Chris Rock literally made fun of Jada on public TV, and her feelings being hurt was valid. As a married man, I think Will had an obligation to defend Jada
I think he should have been less emotional about it. Like right off the bat if someone is making fun of you, your absolute worst move is to get angry. It makes you look like a bitch.
I think if he slapped him and said something more along the lines of "I'm standing up for not making fun of people for having serious terminal illnesses right to their face"
Instead, he cried on stage, going all over the place, never really making a point that had anything to do with what was going on at the moment. It was almost as cringy as when he apologized later.

No. He was dead wrong. He and Jada were having all kinds of marriage issues and it looked like all of that vitriol and frustration boiled over and he struck Chris.
If you see the video, he starts to laugh. Then looks at Jada who is pissed. . . then he sees it as a cue to redeem himself.
And instead of just talking to Chris afterwards or even just shouting disapproval he had to make it physical.
If he were anyone else, he would have been taken to jail moments later.
Walking up to someone and physically assaulting them because you can’t control your temper is not the definition of defending someone else. Don’t get how that’s so hard for people to understand.
And yeah exactly, they were at the Oscars. You don’t just walk onto stage, slap someone in the face then walk back to your seat. You act like a fucking adult.
Physical violence is never justified, except in self defense, but I would of been totally okay with him getting in his face and yelling all kinds of very loud profanities on live TV at him.
Would of been great for the F bomb to be dropped on the show and him taking the spotlight to explain that insulting someone like that is not appropriate.

Yes, you are the only one who thinks it was okay to assault a comedian for making JOKES. Mild, inoffensive jokes, too. Especially when the slapper is quite literally a cuckold beta-male who willingly lets his wife sleep with other men. If I was Chris Rock, I would've beat the sh*t out of that b*tch; and I don't mean Jada.
When you're 18 actions like that can land you in jail. Chris decided not to press charges and he should have.
Words matter right? So he should have used words to defend his wife after the show if he felt the need. Regardless he's a comedian and no one bats an eye at bald jokes directed at guys.
If someone used words against you feel free to walk away or use words back. If someone tries to physically assault you, which means actually puts their hands on you, then you can defend yourself with your hands.
If someone slaps you, you can't shoot them in the face.
Also, this conversation is so stale. If you don't understand these basics in life at 17 life will probably feel unfair if you find yourself in these situations in real life and all of a sudden find yourself in jail. Just know if you think assaulting people is ok over a joke you're wrong... end of story... Remember the other person in real life might not be so kind and drop charges.
Regardless i like Chris Rock more after everything was said and done.
It is also weird that the Will Smith movie he got nominated was marketing on breaking stereotypes but the lead actor on the reward ceremony for said movie was so easily provoked into the stereotype.
I don't think there was an easy solution but clearly this became the worst for jada and will.
Unfortunately you are not the only one.. But Chris didn't deserve the slap.. Especially since the joke wasn't even bad.. GIJane 2 "can't wait to see it".. Nothing worth slapping over that.. Lmao.. Jada herself didn't even agree with it.. She threw Will under the bus..
My first thought was that it was a set up for some Oscar drama but I did see a body language analysis of it which showed otherwise.
Maybe it shows that Roasting humor needs to be done carefully in that it is something that the target can laugh at themselves or that there is a positive and negative side to it all.I am with you.
But, slapping, I am not so sure. Going up and commenting publicly for the world to see, was good though.
Really, this shit at the Oscars has gotten out of hand and it is one reason that I stopped watching... That, and that they are including streaming movies which is wrong, just like Spielberg says.I thought the whole thing was blown out portion. Yea he maybe shouldn't of slapped him, then again wasn't Chris told not joke about Jada hair cause of her condition? Anyway, I don't think it was enough to cancel his career. The man's a good actor. He didn't go up cut Chris's head off, he gave small little bitch slap lol
Nope, he was in the wrong. Chris Rock is a comedian, that’s his job. Her husband even laughed about it till he seen her face. I don’t know the extent of his knowledge but had he made that joke knowing she had alone is I’d have thought of him as a complete dick. Even so that doesn’t warrant battering someone.
It was a joke and if they were offended they should have talked about it after the show and expressed to Chris Rock that what he said wasn’t cool and they didn’t find it funny, not to mention that these things are know to have people roasting the audience and they were sitting in the front row. Going up to him and slapping him was extremely ignorant especially on live TV.
In some states under stand your ground laws Chris rock would be justified in shooting will.
I think Jada has been making a fool of will for years.
I think Smith could have expressed his discontent or anger privately with Chris Rock. No need to turn that very public event into a circus. I’m sure it must have led to a very awkward silence and embarrassment to all there.
If Chris Rock had been physically assaulting Jada, Will Smith’s response would have been justified. Violence is NEVER an appropriate response to words, especially JOKES.
Chris Rock is a comedian and getting roasted has always been part of award shows.
Seriously, if you can’t take a little dig, stay home.
Will Smith was out of line.if it were Mike Tyson making that joke... I really doubt that Will Smith would had been so "brave", lol
He's a beta male coward that conviently picked on a smaller man because he was sensative about a joke. Putting your hands on someone because they hurt you feelings with words is the clearest sign of a weak man.
You are very immature if you think that violence is ever justified against words. It's a joke. And if anyone else had done that they would be in jail. But they let Will get away with it because he's famous.
Violence is not a reasonable response to words. He's an idiot.
I think he has a right, but also I feel like Jayda does a lot of shit talking to take it personally? I don't know I think both sides have valid points
Yes, it's totally inappropriate on national television to exact violence on the host for something he said. And given the endless nonsense these people squirt out on a regular basis, it's also hypocritical.
Would will Smith or jadan smith be justified in slapping her in the face for her entanglement?
