I try to stay out of the whole mess. Lately I’ve gotten more involved because even I’m appalled by some of the political shenanigans I see, but I hope it gets back to me being able to live a hedonistic life where I don’t have to give a shit about any of this until I either drop dead or we all go up in a mushroom cloud, and I’ll just know that I personally had a blast up until the final buzzer.

So I’m “unenrolled” as far as party goes. I don’t really get into the whole “liberal” or “conservative” label bullshit, I just think what I think, when I think it, about whatever I’m thinking about, haha. Subject to change at any moment or by the slightest breeze. If I had to call it, I’d maybe say progressivism most closely matches my beliefs, socially, anyway. To be honest, I find the current social ideals of the 2022 Republican Party pretty horrific. I could maybe have discussions about fiscal stuff, but as long as the social ideals are what they are, I can’t even sit down at the table across from that sort of thing. Just very difficult to hear some of the things they believe and then be able to turn around and take them seriously on some other topic, just insurmountable moral deficiency.

I can get annoyed by some people from the left, overzealous policing of some stuff. I wish we could joke more and be a little less sensitive and reactive, but maybe that comes eventually once we’ve mastered being sensitive to OTHERS, being reactive to the RIGHT things. Ultimately, I agree with the spirit of much of what liberals are aiming for, so I might disagree with their proposed solution, or how they’re fighting for it, but we likely can agree where and what the problems are.

Its all a little flimsy though, because I have kind of an unconventional view of humanity in that I think our entire current society is a misstep, and we’re basically never meant to have left primitive life in small tribes. Way more complicated than just that, but the super brief summary is that we aren’t supposed to be doing any of this shit we all know, so of course it’s hopelessly fucked. We can have this every man for himself mentality in the natural wild and it’s fine. But in a fabricated society, that’s going to require (fabricated, if necessary) compassion and cooperation, if we want the benefits of said fabricated society. So obviously none of this conforms to the typical political system we’re under, haha.

I'd say i'm probably more libertarian politically. Belief wise, I lean republican but I think there's many things that should be voluntary and not forced (as the right and left parties would). I am probably closer to being a Minarchist, more specifically.
