When I married in '74 I was in the Navy, so I was often gone, out of the country. As she was still going to school, I was the sole source of our money which she needed access to, so of course we had a shared account. Later, she also worked and her money went into the same account. Over the years it became necessary to have other accounts. We had joint accounts aqnd separate accounts. With retirement money, Social Security, Investments, etc., it became necessary to have multiple accounts that both of us had access to. Never had a problem!!!
Yep. Shared it with my ex... right up the point her divorce lawyer told her to empty the bank account. Within 24hrs, she was removed from EVERY joint account we owned. We just pooled our $$ together and paid the bills from that.
After the divorce and my remarriage to 2.0 (this wife was a MAJOR upgrade!), we now keep separate bank accounts. We DO have a joint account where we load our tax returns into and use that for vacations and our anniversary gifts.
Even with separate accounts, we agreed on who pays what bills, so it's pretty even between us. We also have an agreement that she and I have to talk it over for any purchase over $200.
My husband and I share a bank account. We did not combine finances until we were married.
When we got married, I was working full time and my husband was a student. So I added him as an approved user to my existing account. We've shared this account for 4 years now. We have equal access to the money.
Both of our paychecks go into our account and we use our money to pay our bills and fund our lifestyle.
No, I haven’t. Woman have come a long way. It will take me just as long to share an account like that. It’s not really needed. A joint can be created in marriage for certain things to make it easier for both to pay mutual bills and such. I don’t think it’s required for either spouse or partner to share everything.

Yes with my ex wife and it was actually easier for us to manage our bills , we both worked and I was less of a spender then she was, so it never bothered me as long as she didn’t make us go broke , My money is her money and her money is my money is the way I look at it , She knew I wasn’t a big spender and knew I only bought small things like beer on the weekends , if I wanted to buy something expensive I would talk to her about it first before I made the purchase , Now that I have my own bank account I realize now I have a lot more money because she isn’t involved lol
I never shared a bank account with a significant other until I got married.
I added my wife to my checking account but I'm the one who balances that account. We both contribute to it and I use it to pay all our bills.
My wife is self employed so she has her own business account. She takes care of that. She also pays off the charges we run up on a Costco credit card each month for gas, groceries, and things like that.
Combining her business account with the household account would be a nightmare.
The money both of us earn all goes to benefiting our lives together. There aren't any secrets.
Yes, from the beginning of our relation my wife and I shared a bank account. Actually this was my own account on which she had a procuration. Later, seizing the opportunity of another bank granting us a loan to buy a little house, we decided she should also have an account of her own on which I had a procuration. I can honestly state that my wife and I never had problems to trust each other when it came to finances.
Just the truth. We were lucky we could trust each other ;0)
My wife and I each have our own accounts. Although we both have access to eachothers in the event of emergency.
i think the best setup is for each to have their own account, have a shared account that everyone pays into to cover household expenses and a household savings account that requires both signatures to withdraw from.
Yeah the only reason we do it simpler is that she's watching our twins full time, and I enjoy accounting and cost recovery lol
yes, with my last two ex-girlfriends which were the ones I lived in with, we had a shared account, besides our own accounts... and just because it was much more easier to go with the budgeting of shared expenses as well as keeping track of a couple of things we worked on together, like financing studies, starting a couple of business, and buying property
My husband and I have had a joint bank account for many years, which takes care of all the household expenses... Mortgage, Utility, Insurances & Groceries etc.
Naturally we both have our own accounts for all our own personal needs and expenses.
I've yet to be in a position where I'd have to even consider sharing a back account. I suppose I'd probably agree to a shared bank account if it's completely separate and we either monthly or occasionally and manually put some money in. But like I said, haven't been there yet.
Can't say I have. I don't think this is really a thing anymore. Once it became as easy as using an app on your phone to instantly send money to someone else, there's really no reason at all to have joint accounts.
I do for the bulk of our finances. But I have a savings account that's separate and it's not for my personal spending. I use our mutual account for that. It's to just be able to save up because my wife tends to spend everything very quickly. I like to save more and she likes to spend more.
As a kid growing up my family was upper middle class and I was lucky to never have to share anything. As an an adult I still don't like sharing anything.
I wouldn't share a bank account with my significant other (if I had one). I don't want her telling me how I should spend my money and I don't want to be frustrated when I see she has spent money on Victoria Secret, manicures and Starbucks.
I have and learned my lesson. I barely spent any money yet it was almost all gone before bills were paid. Apparently it just disappeared.
My husband and I have a shared account and access to eachother's business accounts. Everything is "ours".
I do with my husband. I don't think it's wise to ever do it with someone you are not married to, though.
Nope. A guy can get my love and affection but my wallet and bank accounts will remain always a taboo for him
Yes. Our main household account is joint and we also have our own personal ‘slush fund’ accounts.
Nope and I don't plan to until I get married.
Yep the whole time we've been together.
One joint, at least one separate each.
I have shared a account with my husband for the past 7 years
My husband & I share joint personal & business accounts.
Nope, honestly planning to get a custom made prenup, and making an entirely new account when I get married, what I make beforehand belongs to me and I'm only entitled to that much, I'm an asshole, I know
Married yes, I make and made much more than her
My ex used to have his salary come into my account coz it would get in faster than if he used his own.
Not been in the position but would a a joint account for household expenses whilst retaining personal accounts
No, not my personal one.
We have a separate joint house hold account that we both put money into.
Yes, in marriage and in a serious non-marrisge relationship where we are living together, there is a joint account that we each contribute to, in addition to our separate accounts.
No because id be paying all the bills, if she doesn't have a job she gets a monthly allowance
Yes. My wife and I have a shared account that our bills get paid out of, and a savings account that we're using to save up for a house.
Yes Witty, I do, and I wish you'd stop spending so much of our money on sex toys, or at least, tone it down!
I have to admit, I did not even know what that was, and now that you've told me I can't "unthink it". You're horrible.
Not until we're married, we'd have a joint savings account and an account each
we each have our own accounts but each has access to each others.
We have had joint bank accounts and joint everything for almost 30 years and never had any issues.
No, never, we had a shared account for household expenses which we both paid into nut the rest of our finances were kept separate.
When I was married we had separate bank accounts. When I've had roommates, we have a shared 'house' account for house expenses like rent, utility bills, etc.
Yes. It makes finances much easier. Everything goes into one account and all bills/spending comes out of the same account.
We've done that for 30+ years and don't have a problem
Me and my wife have always had a joint account.
Never have, never would.
Never have and never will
i’d rather gargle with drano 😝
Yes, we have a joint account.
no, cause i was never married.
Yes I have with no regrets
No, never.
No way.
Yes my wife and I have joint account 🙂
No, I haven’t.
Only if we were married
No and I never will.
