Almost 50% of people in advertisements are African Americans. However, they are only 13.5% of the population. Therefore, based on population, African Americans, are represented in advertisement more than three times as often as the the other races.

it gives corporations woke points so they are more insulated against frivolous discrimination suits. Look - we hire blacks... see! If you notice in every movie or tv series all the bad guys and idiots are played by white men and all the geniuses, tough people and hero's are played by women and blacks... hey, fuck those white males, they can't sue us, lol.
It's because of these "diversity" ideologies where they pretend to care about minorities in hope to get better sales but most people I know dislike this exaggerated overrepresentation.

There is something going on that results in corporations using blacks in a high percentage of advertisements. I don't know what that is, but likely the results of decisions of very powerful people that, in effect, rule the USA.
Regardless, I don't believe it increase sales unless the advertisement are directed toward the niche market of African Americans. In any event, it don't believe using African Americans in Advertisements in the overall market. It may even be slightly harmful but not by a significant amount.
You might want to use an advertisement made in this millennium.
That ad is from 1960.

And so is this ad from 1960:

@Guardian45 is correct.
You are right. I should have checked the date of the ad.
I don’t think black or darker people buy just because they see an add and think omg I’m accepted gotta buy one. Like all colors we buy for convenience and needs but when there is a need for it your brain may recall that brand. I think and hope it’s just out of a company wanting to market with the mind set of America is of all colors.
Perhaps it does. Energizer batteries were long advertised by a wholesome pink rabbit and now it's been cancelled and replaced by a black battery character.

Well if you are selling a product which is high in sugar and known for being damaging to teeth then perhaps you would want to emphasis the whiteness of the teeth of the people in the advert by leveraging the contrast with darker skin.
But sure, make it about race if you want.
I doubt it. People like what products they like regardless of who is in their commercials.
However 2 products I will NEVER buy again:
1. Galette because of their crap toxic manhood commercial.
2. Coke products after telling their employees.
Both lost my business forever.
Well since your Pic is of 7up, Orlando Jones certainly made 7up's product memorable around the turn of the millennium. I don't think it was him being black though as much as Orlando's freaking hilarious.
They are scared to be labeled as anti black. If a business gets labeled as anti black or not showing enough black representation then their business will pay a heavy toll. Businesses get scared of this happening so they over represent black people in order to leave no room to be labeled as anti black.
Marketing is all about targeting specific groups. For example, if I wanted to target PoC, then I would ads like the one above. LOTS of TV ads nowadays are targeting PoC and Sexuality preferences
Of course. However, would you spend almost half of your advertising budget targeting a group that earns and therefore spends less than10% of the money?
No, unless the goal was to grow that market segment!
Who cares? Like is it that annoying to you to see black people. I mean I buy stuff that isn't marketed to me at all because I want it. At least they made an ad about it so I would known it's for sale. Look how overrepresented the Gay, etc. community in everything now. Do you want to slice and dice their buying power too?
Company Brands do want and do this all the time, especiallywith established brands. I used to work I'm marketing for Beer company. We were ALWAYS trying how to figure out how to get more women to drink beer!
That would be foolish unless the company's focus is on a niche market that caters to a specific consumer group rather than competing with competitors who target the broad consumer groups.
All of our competitors were trying to figure how to sell beer to women too!
Can you please cite this statistic? Where is your source?
Just Google and you can take your choice from a number of sites.
I think it is social justice warriors doing it. I have no idea exactly why. But I have noticed myself.
I like how in commercials now the only White people you see are super-duper White.
Like red-headed gingers and super pale, blue-eyed blondes.
And there will only be 1 in the entire commercial 😂
Meanwhile, I be all: “have whatever mix of races you must in commercials which I largely ignore cause I’m getting another beer and heating up nachos.”
Like anyone is gonna go: “I should buy that product because of it’s racially diverse advertisements.”
It’s all so stupid.
it actually decreases the odds of me shopping there!
I don't believe it makes any difference
you're smarter than me so I don't know.
I have a very high IQ so it is not unlikely that I have a higher IQ. However, I'm only half your age; therefore, more likely than not, you are the smarter one.
I have more life experience, so maybe more wisdom, but I don't think I am more intelligent than you. Many older people talk down to young children, and younger people are always heavily criticized for no reason because they think kids have it "easy," which is not true.
There's a high teen suicide rate and high teen overdose because many adults don't take them seriously and don't respect them. All kids a capable of growth, and adults should be more respectful to kids.
So I respect your intelligence and think you are smarter than me.
You write very well so you are smart and the things you stated seem very logical to so you probably smarter or at the very least you have more wisdom.
I don't know why there is a high teenage drug use and suicide rate. However, I suspect it is not so much that adults talk down to us as it is peer pressure and/or not fitting in and being accepted by their peers which can result in being excessively bullied. Or perhaps we haven't evolved to adapt to our society which, I believe if far different, then when half the population lived on farms and most people did not live in large cities.
