Many right wingers will say whatever is convenient right now, right this very second... even if it contradicts what they said last sentence, or was stated as their main point in order to "win" the conversation, and / or no matter if the original assertion proves to be harmful.
Case in point: This forcing ladies to carry the baby to term no matter what because we said so? not hard to see that this was not only gonna cause a good deal of anger from those being "told what they can and can't do with their own lives" but have FORSEEABLE negative health outcomes for women and babies.
Congressman Joe and Pastor Bob are not doctors and need to extract their noses from the OB/GYN exam room right now. Their "opinion" has no value and should not even be welcome unless the PATIENT wants it.
Bottom line is just because they said it doesn't mean they believe anything of the sort.
They are merely throwing out a spin on a talking point to see if it could possibly gain traction. Nothing they say has any basis in fact. It's all about winning the partisan messaging war.

Right wingers are told they are stupid by some on the left/center and are further told that they are told they are stupid by pretty much everyone on the right. So, the idea of being smart enough to be useful is something right wingers rule out from a pretty young age. However, they still want to eat and sleep somewhere warm, but are told it's socialsm if that's too easy to get. So, they pretty much universally want to be paid to own stuff. Gatekeeper, it's called. And one of the things they want to own is women. They want to be able to dictate when men are allowed to sleep with women, instead of letting the women decide for themselves. And so badgering their livestock with shame and squalor until they agree to behave like livestock is pretty much the only tool in their shed.

Who knows what goes through their minds, people have sex to be close and it feels good and are not ready for children on the third date but maybe years later they might want to, not everyone wants children but most want sex.
