George was rather dated and shit, tbh. He said a lot of daft shit that sounded good, but meant little. But it's that American habit of making more of shit than there really is, that he preyed on.
You go on American stage and "swear" you saw three UFO's and give it a backstory. Guarantee next day you'll get at least a dozen daft fuckers "swearing" they saw it too.
Regardless, the quote is shit as a role model is not a parent. The role model is an aspirational figure beyond the parent. Allmight is a role model - no parent is going to waste time trying to emulate the character. But will entertain the kid with it as it's a fun way for a kid to learn, aside from the parent themselves.
George was simply ahead of his time. There's a tremendous amount I disagree with him on. I think back, and my father was without doubt my roll model, and hero to boot. Superman to me, the man I want to be. Far far from perfect, but an incredible human being. As l got older I admired other people, I learned to love God. But looking back now I can clearly recognize things he would do to nudge me in the direction of those worthy of being a role model. No matter who it is I lookup to, admire or worship in my life, I have clear memories of my true roll model guiding me teaching me what he thought was best for me. But ultimately allowing me to make my own choices.
That was weird and try hard and hypocritical.
You can do better buddy.
It's as simple as the quote itself. If you are not someone your kid can look up to , that leaves the door wide open for them to look elsewhere for someone to possibly model themselves and life after. This starts at birth and not something that just happens. Even young kids know if you're a talk the talk only or a walk the walk parent and follow through.
George Carlin was a legend.
This is one reason why I don't ever want to have kids, though. I shouldn't be anyone's "role model." I'm a decent teacher, but not a decent would-be father (at least in my opinion).

Amen…as a family unit too.
That George Carlin really had it all going on, didn't he?
I say its one of the best, but not thee best.
naw i disagree. i think many young people have celebrity role models and i'm not sure that this is a big issue... obviously depending on who that role model is.
yeah well if andrew tate is their role model, they're fucked xD i agree with that.
yeah sometimes but he speaks a lot of missinformed idiotic nonsense in between. not someone children should listen to.
Yeah, I felt that
Nah hell I wouldn't want to be father if anything he's the anti-role model as in I do everything opposite to him
True he's not bad per say just terrible with money and I've attributed that to his habits and avoid them so he smokes cigarettes and I enjoy a nice cigar, he drinks blended scotch and I drink single malt, he plays the lotto and I gamble properly, he worked for the system and I'm self-employed, he's religious and I'm an agnostic
My father
I view there is, starting a business is a gamble but properly gambling is more conventional stuff poker and sport betting smaller odds bigger stakes more likely results
It's all gambling, just different levels of risk
Yep.
Spot on.
