Is freedom a weakness? Can a free and democratic society really prevail over totalitarian regimes?

It seems our society is decaying because of our freedom. We have no respect for authority, no respect for our country and government. We're plagued with drugs and crime. Our cities are filthy and decaying.

While Putin and Xi and Kim sit back making their people respect them and making them afraid of commiting degeneracy we're too busy arguing about which clown to send them next we don't even notice them like we should. Our society hates itself for "racism" and "colonialism" and "climate change" and whatever meanwhile their societies hate us for the same reason while currently committing far worse atrocities today.

I don’t think we really qualify as a free society. It’s more akin to Corporate Socialism or Corporate Oligarchy.


We don’t really have freedom of speech. Voting results are questionable. We have people that have been in government longer than most kings reigned in history. Self defense is outlawed in many population centers and states. Corporations control much of our lives and afforded the same rights as people. Corruption runs rampant in every corner of society. Drugs are prescribed with little testing or concern for long term consequences, which we are routinely suffering the consequences of. We’re sold lies and taxed heavily to fund proxy wars around the world when we aren’t sending our own kids to die. We used to have the worlds best healthcare, now we have the worst of both free market and socialist health care without any of the benefits. Families are broken, kids are medicated and our population is in decline.


Freedom isn’t a weakness. We just don’t know what it means anymore.

The one thing we don't have in the USA is freedom. There is very little you can do that doesn't require permission from the government or that the government cannot interfere with. Just because, the government usually does not interfere is no guarantee you can do something outside the reach of the government.

First of all, not all democratic societies are free and not all autocratic societies are oppressive. People had a high degree of freedom in many ways under Queen Elizabeth I or Frederick the Great, for example. In “our democracy,” as our elites put it (they literally mean it’s their democracy when they say that) you have the freedom to be propagandized in government schools and by the entertainment complex and manipulated by the entities wealthy and powerful enough to dominate the information organs, sway electoral outcomes, and manipulate bureaucratic procedural outcomes. It has been proven by studies that legislative outcomes are almost always contrary to what people want but in favor of corporate interests.

Second, whether a society is strong, weak, rising, or in decline has much more to do with the effectiveness and integrity of the elite that runs it (and there is always an elite in power, even in America) and the health and cohesion of the people, not the particular form of government in place. Viewed from this perspective, with its profoundly selfish elites and incredibly unhealthy, uprooted, and fractured population, America is in catastrophic decline.

Ah yeah, Russia, China and North Korea sure are examples of nations people would love to live in. Also, no, these nations don't hate the western world cuz cloimate chanze or whatever other made up bullshit. Freedom is not a weakness. The majority of states are reigned democratic (more or less) and only a handfull of states are ruled by a totalitarian regime, if democracy is so bad, it wouldn't be adapted by so many countries and wouldn't have replaced monarchy or other totalitarian regimes.

"It seems our society is decaying because of our freedom." How did you arrive at that? Freedom is not the CAUSE of decay - stupidity, ignorance and apathy are, and yes, you're "free" to choose to embrace any of those things. Living under a totalitarian regime is not living - it's slavery.

There is nothing "free" or "democratic" about the US. We have an economic system that allows a few individuals to accumulate obscene amounts of money and then buy politicians and of course their votes.

Can you name one successful, modern authoritarian regime. authoritarianism has never worked and always fails.
