Yes actually, because total security would involve an omnipresent surveillance state where people are not allowed to leave confined, padded rooms. Even trips to the bathroom would be carefully monitored and controlled. This type of control could only be achieved with artificial intelligence and it is our future if we don't fight against it.
You want to be able to drive your car rather than have a machine do it for you? You have to fight for that. You want to be able to go outside despite the risks? You have to fight for that. You want to swim despite it being a little dangerous at times? You have to fight for that.
Civilians are in a perpetual, eternal war against governments to secure their freedoms and they only tolerate governments because these governments would be replaced by the mafia otherwise.
@goaded these "reasonable compromises" have led to the steady erosion of my rights. I see it with the Patriot Act, I see it with civil asset forfeiture, I see it with the persecution of journalists, etc.
The citizenry should have gotten together and done something about this a long time ago. People in America should be like the French where they really just don't take any shit whatsoever.
Every time you completely reform the government to flush out corruption, it will get corrupted within 10 years or less so you have to stay on top of that AGGRESSIVELY. The model of electing representatives and then ignoring what they do is not going to work anymore, people are going to have to be much more actively involved.
@goaded I admire the French because if you so much just try to take a year or two off of their retirement? They are going to actively inconvenience the government which is what Americans need to be much more comfortable doing.
Does Julian Assange and Edward Snowden not ring a bell to you?
Yeah that's all a bunch of bullshit and a way to misdirect people away from what Hunter and Joe have been up to.

I praised one aspect of Mitt Romney, when he told the truth about Trump. Haven't you noticed that the sham impeachment attempt is dead? The last witness, along with every witness that was actually present for anything, blew apart the claims, and there's even video of Giuliani being told there were no bribes paid to Biden.
Remind me, what do you think of protesters taking to the streets in the US, like BLM in 2020?
not opposite. just related.
the excuse of security is frequently misused by power hungry democrats to claim that safety is an excuse to interfere with personal choices n freedoms, exposed the misuse of patriot act, examples from influencing the car we buy, the food available, the future of cows that destroyed environment as they claim to interfere, to spying on your emails n phone calls in the name of security even before a threat was ever established by an objective judge.
real freedom does not conflict real security no matter how democrats mislabel, as usual, invasive laws.

can a government secure my freedom? no. that relies on individuals minds to do that.
i suppose by greater stability you mean mass shooting preventions? so i have to lose my guns to feel more safe? i know the police doesn't protect it's citizens. why should they get a raise while doing nothing more than prey on innocent citizens to make a quota to make it look like they do anything? they ruin/kill peoples lives more than they help them
that's certainly the democratic way these days
People say we have mroe freedom in the US but we are not safer than Europe, Japan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore.
So?
You can have both freedom and security. Just not in the United States.
