+1 yThe location where it hit is in the middle of nowhere, with no legitimate targets around. I looked around the map on the Ukrainian side and and there doesn't seem to be any targets there either. Both sides of the border are nothing but farm land and tiny towns.
If it's an accident, either there is some kind of legitimate target that isn't visible, or the missile was WAAAAAY off target. It's roughly three miles into Poland if the supposed target was right on the border - but there is nothing there. There is nothing for at least several miles around there.
If it was intentional, why? Why target the middle of nothing? To test the waters to see how NATO would react? The west is already being a bunch of pussies when it comes to the aggression against Ukraine. Is Russia pushing to see just how far they can go without repercussions?
Like everything else about that war, none of it makes any sense. Everything points to a Russian leader who is completely irrational, with questionable sanity. If this is anything but an accident, it once again points in the direction of insanity - but worse, an insane leader who is untouchable by the people who are still sane.

I’m sure the owners of the farms don’t consider it “the middle of nowhere.” They call it home.

@dustybiker
That's true, but it has nothing to do with whether a missile landing there was intentional or not. There is no military target there. There is no important infrastructure. There is nothing on either side of the border worth intentionally firing a missile at it. - +1 y
Oh, sure. Just had a heartfelt moment for the country folk.

I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make, or what beef you have with what I said. From a military point of view, what they did makes no sense. There is nothing to read into it. - +1 y
I don’t. Not all random chatter is unfriendly.

8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No its not. Also its not guaranteed to be Russia either, it could be Ukraine and more specifically an anti-air rocket that missed/malfunctioned in trying to intercept a cruise missile and just kept going until it crashed into the ground when it happened to be in Poland.
I say that because it looks to be S300 missiles that did it which are air defense missiles and should be outside the range of known Russian units. Beyond that, even if it was Russia it would not really change much. NATO is pretty much entirely supportive of Ukraine already so the level of support won't increase and NATO is not going to just jump into the war for something this minor just because they would have a technical justification for why.
If NATO wanted to get directly involved they would manufacture a reason rather than wait for Russia to accidentally fire a rocket into Poland. Since they haven't already, they do not want to and as such will not overly escalate the current situation. What they might do however is use this as an excuse to try give Ukraine even more support or a leg up if they want to negotiate peace. Basically, the war continues as it already has.10 Reply
1.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It would now appear to have been a Russian built air defence missile, but fired from Ukraine and sadly went extremely wide of its intended target... If this is now proved to be the case, then a most tragic accident indeed happened.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yWe will have to see what the responce is.
Clearly this is not an attack so anyone making any noises about nato action against Russia should be considered public enemy number one as this sort of retard is likely to get hundreds of millions of people killed as a minimum and more likely than not the extinction of all life on Earth with the possible exception of some cockroaches and 3 eyed fish.
If politicitians or media start making these noises today I would suggest that this is the work of the secret services of the west, its just another black op like the Nord stream pipeline was.

+1 yPolish media reports that two Polish people died from the "accidental" Russian missile strikes, near the Ukraine border. I'm hoping this is not an escalation, that it was a mistake, but it could be a good thing, forcing Russia to stop, or at least reduce, its attacks.
Here's a thought... perhaps a Russian general, fed up with the war, intentionally directed a strike in an agriculture area of Poland, believing that there would be no casualties, to force Comrade Putin to rethink what Russia is doing in Ukraine.

Well, it turns out that this was an accidental strike fired by Ukraine air defense, trying to take down incoming Russian missiles attacking Ukraine. NATO and Poland confirmed this. So No, it's not a turning point.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yLikely we will back off from the table either with some demands for compensation or mere refusal to go to war over this.
If we don't get compensation it will tell Putin he can get away with more carelessness. If we go to far in demanding it, it will escalate the situation even closer to world war nobody can win.
Either way this is an example of what WILL continue to happen as we role the dice in being involved in this conflict.
Russia has a solid military excuse to strike NATO targets for supplying his enemy. This is an act of war against Russia which they have thus far declined.
If he gets away with this he will be more eager to push his luck there. Sooner or later we will end up in such a conflict, this is unfortunately the nature of war.
10 Reply5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It has not been confirmed that the projectile that landed in Poland was fired by Russia. It certainly does not signal the beginning of an offensive against Poland.
Russia's has modern equipment and it actions are surgical. Why would it bomb a place in Poland where grain is being dried? There is no military value.
The way the western press is talking about this makes one suspect a false flag like the supposed gas attacks in Syria.20 Reply- 5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yI am not certain about how this could be the turning point. When Russia invaded Crimea, it should have been a turning point. When they invaded Georgia, it should have been a turning point. When they invaded Donbass, it should have been a turning point.
I think we have to understand, there is no turning point coming. Russia has its supporters who simply don't care.
As for the rest of us. . . well. . . support Ukraine and any nation Russia continues to bully or intimidate.
21 Reply 3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Things are already serious just NATO and the world are to complacent these days. Like eh we don't need wars no more longs if only a few people get killed and it's some invasion on a place we don't care about shrugs.

+1 yOh it's YOU? I was gonna say something, but since it's YOU, carry on.
Though I will say this, I'm Polish myself, but I don't feel sorry for them. Of course I feel bad for the innocent farmers who were killed, but in general I think the Poles had it coming. Maybe they will finally shut up after having to clean their pants yesterday.
00 Reply NATO won't do anything about that. The war rhetoric is heavy, but not even the most insane neocon in Washington is willing to risk nuclear war over the 2 rockets that landed in Poland.

Everything is a turning point, just like every fossil is a transissional fossil. to assume that there is one particular turning point that is more important than another assumes that you already know the future course of history with certainty.
I can assure you, you do not!
00 Reply8.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I think as of this point, we have only heard about this from the US not directly from Poland. Thanks to stuff like Gulf of Tonkin, we need to be extremely skeptical about stuff like this. It could be a false flag trying to get warmongers to start sending their peons to kill each other.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yNo. Everyone KNOWS it wasn't intentional, just Russian incompetence. But it does beg the question? Since TECHINCALLY article 5 was broken we should be at war. I mean it is POSSIBLE this was deliberate to test NATO's resolve.
00 ReplyWell Poland is a NATO country so legally that's WW3 right there. Unless the US can gaslight everyone into believing that Ukraine accidentally fired a missile into Poland...
