When people say things like “this too shall pass”… do they not realize that goes both ways?

Sure the bad things will end eventually, but the good things end also.

I always took it as they are pointing out that it goes both ways. They are reflecting on all the good things that passed in the midst of a bad thing, and noting that it, too, is temporary so we should stop lamenting that good things are temporary, because temporariness is a good thing.
