This is a topic I get to deal with more often than I like. You all do realize the President has nothing to do with gas prices. That is set by supply and demand more than anything, while policies can adjust them on top of it.
A simple search could have told you that. So please when it comes to things maybe do a little research before posting about it. I would offer the link, but it won't allow me to just yet.
Yet in a day and age where answers are at your finger tips, people seem to be too lazy to fact check before perpetuating false information.
So again THE PRESIDENT AND ELECTED OFFICIALS DO NOT HAVE CONTROL THE GAS PRICES, past the policies in which it must operate in and around.

You need to go back and look into the policies that have been put into place since he has been in office, as well as the true reasons prices are dropping.
A blanket statement like yours does not take in account the true facts.
People were blaming the former president for the price increases.
Remember prices are still more than double what they were when he took office.
So just because they came down from the record high prices, it doesn't mean that they still aren't high.
You really need to spend some time and look into the facts for yourself with an open mind.

When Trump was president I distinctly remember the gas being 3.50$ on average per gallon across the areas where after biden killed the domestic production of gas…. Gas went from 3.50 to 5$ that’s how much gas was in California when Obama was President…
At least on this planet, the USA is the hands down largest producer of petroleum products. We out-produce the Saudis and the Russians. In everything, we're #1.

You obviously don't understand the way oil companies work. Just because we would have X number of fewer barrels to buy doesn't mean Exxon Mobil is going to make less profit on what they'd sell us.
When has hypocrisy ever stopped anyone? Presidents have little influence over the price of gas (or anything else for that matter in a free market system). It’s just something convenient to blame them for.
While Presidents don't directly set prices, they absolutely have a significant effect on them via their policies, both foreign and domestic.
Biden campaigned on ending petroleum, and he signed almost 20 executive orders his first day in office that specifically dealt with petroleum supply in the US.
And when the Dems' polling told them that the public was furious at them for high gas prices, they had Biden sell off the Strategic Petroleum Reserves (that Trump had filled to capacity) in order to artificially lower gas prices ahead of the midterm election - i. e., to make Democrats look better. The SPR is for emergencies, not for political manipulation, but that's never stopped Dems.
@MrOracle You overestimate their influence. A President’s authority is mainly regulatory, which does have some effect but that isn’t the main driver of cost by any means. They do have direct control over drilling on federal land but that is only a small percentage of the domestic market. Biden campaigned on weaning us from petroleum, which is a necessary eventual goal, but he hasn’t taken many steps detrimental to the industry. In fact, he approved more drilling permits than even Trump did, much to the chagrin of environmental groups. I agree releasing from the strategic reserve is a temporary election year gambit. That political manipulation has never stopped republicans either. Both President Bush’s released from the reserves to manipulate the market as well. Realistically the price would not have been significantly different with another President. I do, however, realize it’s easier to pin it on bogeyman than it is to acknowledge all of the factors that have led to this.
