I think that is hilarious and only shows how stupid the concept of race is. Alexis Belon identifies a being "Black". Sammy Sosa does not.

I once offended a guy cause I did not know the difference between two different types of religions in terms of dress and clothing style. I have no interest in the Sikh faith but I like people who believe in something so strongly, they don’t care if it changes or limits their opportunities in life, I view people like that as my brother or sister because they have something they value more than all else.

It's not your problem if they got offended by that, providing you were respectful

Shrug and move on. Unless it's something like "We've been married for twenty years; how could you not know this?", it's likely to be extremely minor taken offense, and be quickly forgotten. If they're seriously offended, they're probably not worth bothering with.
