Should go to court?

Question

I’m a 17-year-old in high school taking college classes at my local community college. I’ve taken Ap classes in my junior year and got straight A’s in all of them. But, getting good grades always has a price. My mental health is the price. I see a therapist because I have suicidal thoughts. Not lately but I do. My online teacher and my in-person teachers respect the fact that I do. But, my one professor teaches sociology. We don’t have any Classwork just tests and she sent me an email saying she’s going to withdraw me from the class. I was so confused why and she said because I have too many absences I think it’s hilarious how my English 101 teacher didn’t complain about my absences because I do have excuses from therapy and various doctor appointments. Mind she asked me to complete a project than a couple of days after she says she going to withdraw me from the class. Then she sends me this shady text message. Apparently I’m going to have a W on my transcript instead of a WF.

Well, the only thing that I do not think was warranted was the professor saying "Perhaps you weren't ready for a college class yet." True or not, that was slightly inappropriate to say. The bottom line from her perspective is that your absence was so profound that she would have had to fail you because of the class participation portion of your grade would have lowered your grade sufficiently far to cause you to fail.

OK, now, I do feel for you, but I need to give you a dose of reality in the adult world:

Be thankful that, in the human world, you can get some mercy and leeway - but don't expect it. With this sociology teacher, you were expecting it.

With Nature, there is no such thing as mercy or leeway.
For instance, Nature says "If you don't eat, then you die."
You complain, "But I lost my job and can't afford food!"
Nature replies: "I don't care. If you don't eat, then you die. Eat or die; it's just that simple. That other stuff is your problem, not mine."

So, young lady, you have some growing up to do.

OK, now for the other advice.
CUT-BACK.
Take at most one or two classes a semester for a couple of years until you get your shit together. You are suicidal partly because of the stress you (and perhaps your parents) are giving you to succeed. Well, missing school and having to see a counselor tells me your are not succeeding - and neither will help the situation. The best thing for you is to maybe take a semester off, then come back. And, when you do, take 2 classes that first semester.

I don't understand her math. If class participation is only 20% of the grade, and you got 100s on your tests, you would get an 80. That's a passing grade.
Did you not do well on the tests? Even if you got 90s on all of your tests, you would still pass (barely. With a D.)

Terms of the class are in the syllabus. If you are not meeting the terms, then your teacher can withdraw you. You can try to sue, but your chances of getting anything is pretty much zero since that's just how classes work.

Maybe you should talk to the dean of the community college and show that message to them. Explain your situation and they may side with you especially with those other teachers understand what you are going through.

If it's college classes, teachers can & will drop you for any reason. You can challenge it though but I really don't think it will be something that would hit courts door step, but you never know.
