Should I take legal action?

I am currently looking for jobs to pursue for when I graduate college. I am going into the journalism world and am going to graduate next year. I have interned at a few places and have some experience in news writing. I worked for this very small publication for a few months which helped me a lot but the people there are really shady. It wasn’t paid also.
One of the managers was this guy in his 20s I think who was extremely unprofessional. Almost every week he would go off on some rant about how people weren’t trying their hardest and he was doing everything ( which I was always doing my part which was whatever they gave me)
I didn’t sign up to be a reporter but a news writer but I guess they expected me to be present at certain events even in different cities while I was still in school which isn’t plausible.
I may be supposed to say this but I was a great writer. The guy named me writer of the week one of my first weeks there and I interviewed a few people who said they loved the articles I wrote about them
We used to have weekly meetings and would have to vote whether or not we could make them. I made every one and once I voted that I couldn’t make it because of work and the guy immediately Unadded me from the group chat and I was never heard from the company again.
I considered that extremely unprofessional and when I try to look up some of my articles for my future resume I can’t find some of them. One of the articles that I published and was really proud on and interviewed the lady I found still online and the guy changed a little bit in the beginning and put his name on my article! It’s frustrating because there’s nothing I can do about it.
Isn’t this illegal or something. Those are still my articles at the end of the day. I emailed the president about it but she never answers anything.
What do I do?
Should I take legal action?
