I wouldn't say we can be certain but we can point to all the evidence and say this is the best idea we have so far. So unless older fossils are found elsewhere then I'll stick with Africa

Depends which side of the belief/argument you are on.
As a Christian, I believe the Bible. There’s lot of evidence to support it.
People with a secular and evolutionist view disagree with this side due to “bones” of humans being found in Africa.Depends what you mean by certainty, but here’s the general idea. The remains of anatomically-modern human have been found in Africa. Using radiocarbon dating - measuring the decay of atoms in the fossils or the rocks around them - we’ve determined that these bones are very, very old. Since bones in Africa are much older than bones found anywhere else, we can conclude that the earliest humans appeared in Africa (although the exact location is still debated). We have also found bones of hominids that are similar to humans, but much older. From that we can conclude that these hominids eventually evolved into modern humans. It’s less about about absolute certainty, and more about figuring out the most likely and logical explanation for the evidence we have.
Do you mean like “my ancestors were German and Irish” or like “we evolved from ape like ancestors in Africa”?
