What do you think about a 4 day work week?

I mean like offices etc. For retail workers, chefs, shift workers etc. It would be hell. The weekends are already stressful enough but add a full day on Friday, no way 😂

I work remotely; so, I no longer have the same struggle as most people (commuting, office politics, etc.). I'm also a consultant (not independent, I work for a large company); so, the type of work I do I can take it on as I see fit. This means I wake up when I want to, nap whenever I want to, do work when I want (as long as I get it done, and its done well), and still get paid well over $100k.

For me a 4 day work week is the same as a 5 day work week (I can do 95% of my work by Tuesday night anyway), but what I've learned is that work shouldn't be everything. People should have time to pursue other hobbies, form relationships, and just not have to do anything for more time. We have far more advanced technology than we did 50 years ago; yet, we're working the same or more hours... What sense does this make?

I'm confused. Isn't just 4 days a week so part-time? What about 6 or 7? Why is 4 horrible? That is like a vacation unless you have to work two jobs!

I like the idea. It would give people more time to rest and to spend time with their friends and family. Workers would feel more motivated and in a better mood. That would increase the productivity and the company would make more money.

How would that cause issues? It’s already fairly common in trades jobs

When someone has to cover because of sickness or others then it stresses the entire team. Also issues that people are not as efficient after 7 hours of work.
