I think that should be up to them. Oh, I'm tempted to say otherwise, but I'm an outsider to that situation. Not only am I on a different continent, but I'm not even in Chicago any more, so I'd miss the ensuing party/riot.

Do you mean Ireland, or Ireland and Northern Ireland?
Counties do matter, I believe in a United Ireland again because I have Irish relatives, but too many things would complicate that

yes they should, the English have no right to be in Ireland, the Irish government isn't forcing protestants to become catholics like protestants do to the catholics and during the great potato famine. Ireland should be a free and united nation without the English interfering in Irish affairs.
