No, freedom of speech is important.
If you let people tell you what you are and aren't allowed to say, you end up with a tyrannical dictator ruling over everyone.
People need to voice their opinions, even if it pisses people off.
Whoever decides what is "Hate Speech" will control all speech and inevitably also everyone who hears.
If you want freedom and prosperity you need to have a thicker skin, and the willingness to listen.

No, that's stupid. "Hate speech" isn't even a thing; that's just Communist-style censorship and tyranny. I have NO respect for anyone who thinks "hate speech" is real and should be punishable by law. The whole f*cking point of Freedom of Speech isn't to just protect popular speech. Any grown adult who doesn't understand this basic concept, can go take their asses to North Korea and leave the rest of us non-idiots with our freedom intact.
Ain’t insulting anybody considered to be hate speech?
@HippieVeganJewslim
Not to the woke assholes who believe in "hate speech," no. Which is why they insult Donald Trump, white people, men, straight people, non-handicapped people, and non-trannies, all the time, and still unironically think of themselves as "loving and tolerant."
"Rules for thee, but not for me."
Which is why hate speech, and the mental midgets who want to enforce it as law, shouldn't be taken seriously. I don't believe in hate speech, so I'll insult them all day long for being the fascists and tyrants they are.
No, because who defines what haelte speech is? Because what offends one person or group of people might not offend another person or group of people.
Criminalizing speech is stupidity at best.
I love how it's mostly women who feel the need to silence people. As if the world should bend to fit their idiotic world view.
Indeed. Women are naturally emotional, subjective creatures that rely on feelings, not facts. I'm not saying that precisely and exactly ALL women are like this, but they have a propensity to trend this way. I think it's due to the "nurturing" role they evolved to have.
Agreed. Thank God I married a small town conservative girl.
I'm still having a hard time rapping my head around the fact that my former party use to be all for small government and individual liberty, and is now pro huge government, suppression of free speech, and very authoritarian and fascist. I and most if not all of my friends who use to be card carrying dems are now very red.
'Hate Speech' cannot be criminalised because it is nebulous and is virtually impossible to define, one persons 'Hate Speech' is another's plain speaking. and it is always one sided they only ones harping on about 'Hate Speech' are The Intersectional/Identitarian Woke crowd who are trying to break the populous into tribes, Black, Asian, White etc. It helps none but The I/I Woke crowd, while limiting any cross group communication that would be able to resolve problems.
if hate speech was a criminal offense punishable by law, a lot of people from the political left would the ones getting punished
@MCheetah reminds me of that time a crazy feminist in a gorilla mask threw an egg that narrowly missed Larry Elder. there's also plenty of tweets that say "kill all men" and that short men should die but no one calls them out on it, at least that was prior to Elon Musk buying Twitter. the truly entitled people have been entitled for so long that equality and accountability to them sounds like oppression.
It is already. Invocation to violence or threats is in most countries a criminal offense. Western pseudo liberals consider criticism of specific "protected" groups as "hate speech" already and I don't think any criticism should be forbidden by law.
It is not prosecuted fairly. Peole can say hateful things about President Trump and even have a fake severed head and there are no consequences. If a white person says something about a memeber of a sp called protected class they get thrown in jail.
Nope. But to be fair to those who voted yes, then hate speech should include wrongly labeling people words like racist, nazi or bigot. For example each claim that all Republicans are nazis, racists, bigoted or other negative words should be considered hate speech without exception.
Last time I checked Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. Any such law would be a violation of the Constitution and thus a direct act of sedition.
So-called hate speech is a Communist word game that is intended to allow Communists to silence everyone who disagrees with the insane and murderous Marxist agenda.
Those who advocate for it should ask themselves how they'll like it if those who disagree with them gain power and define their opinions as "hate speech." It is the tool of totalitarianism.
There is no such thing. "Hate speech" is only speech that the overlords say is bad and that can be literally anything.
It is always better to have no censorship than an ever changing censorship rule.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... hahaha hahaha. That's literally the stupidest thing I've ever read
The Democrats are salivating about the idea of criminalizing criticism of them or their pets.
Absolutely not. We can't silence these kinds of discussions, because people need to know why they're hated, son they can hopefully work to change their behavior
No. Legislating hate speech is nearly impossible.
Everyone will have their own interpretation and definition of what "hate speech" is.
Tell me Yours, brother.
Ain’t there Freedom o’ Speech in the First ’Mendment o’ the Bill o’ Rights, and the 30 Human Rights?
Totally violates the First Amendment. So no. Don't read it or listen to it if you don't like it.
Not by itself, but when compounded with an actual violation it should increase the maximum penalties greatly.
How about this for a deal. The n word has been determined to be hate speech. So get rid of the n word but that includes the gga version of it too. Both sides win.
Lol ofc women voted yes
Not even surprised.
