There were colonies established by the British, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russians, Danish, Dutch, Norwegians, Swedish, Scottish, and Knights of Malta as a vassal state of the Kingdom of Sicily,. The Germans and Italians also attempted to colonize the new world. Many people from many places have migrated to the Americas though. The USA was founded by colonists that declared independence from Britain.

People in America must have been speaking English before its independence.

Yes the 13 original British America colonies New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia had English as an official language, even though Dutch, German, and Native American indigenous languages were common place.

There were people here before the Indians, and people here before them, so to choose any one of them over people who live here now is absurd. We spend all of our time worrying about people who have been dead for hundreds of years and let people go hungry or without heat in our own neighborhoods.
