That's basically what happened in Ukraine. Maybe that's why it's got such broad support. We see in Ukriane the American Revolution.

There isn't any historical parallel. And, yes, the 13 colonies did start fighting (mostly over the fact the British barred them from seeking lands west of the Appalachians afte 1763).
If you were capable of a rational discussion, you'd be asking whether Ukraine made the right decision in cozying up to the US, especially after 2014, and trying to join NATO (a quixotic goal if there ever were one). That's the big picture here.
While I'm glad that Ukraine hasn't been conquered by Russia, it bears asking whether the huge death toll and refugee crisis that has resulted from the now almost three year war with Russia was worth it for the country's long term survival.
It was basically a civil war in Ukraine. It started internally with divided factions being pro-EU, or pro-Russia, with most of the country being pro-EU. It was an internal struggle until Russia decided to take sides and invade. EU could have invaded to take that side, but they didn't.
Russia was the one to invade. Before that the war was internal. The war between Ukraine and Russia was 100% started by Russia. They invaded and you can't get around that.
If you want to compare to US history, it would be more like the US Civil War, with an outside country invading either the north or the south.
It's an American v Ukraine war. Trump merely outsourced the fighting to Russia. The current peace talks are between Russia and the USA with Ukraine being given little say on how the resources of their country are divided up. The value of the minerals America is getting far outstrips the cost of the obsolete weapon donated to Ukraine.
The war has nothing to do with it, we were simply dragged by Biden into bankrolling the conflict in service to his European masters. @purplepoppy
America and the Ukraine would have been better off if we let Russia win the war at the start.
Hundreds of thousands to millions of people would still be alive, and Ukraine would still be intact.
Meanwhile Russia would still be in a position to stand up to China in the east thus making the entire containment strategy for the CCP a real threat to the free world viable.
Instead every party has lost in a war only an idiot would believe Ukraine could win against a power 3-4 times their size with a history of defeating them.
If the west really wanted Ukraine to be an independent country they should have offered them a mutual defense pack Before Russia committed its troops to conquering the whole country.
We should be pissed at Europe over this conflict and your trying to blame us for it? Europe is the only continent that even benefits from Ukraine even fighting this war. Or really half the wars fought in the middle east for not American but European oil.
@monorprise "If the west really wanted Ukraine to be an independent country they should have offered them a mutual defense [pact]" They DID!
"Thousands of nuclear arms had been left on Ukrainian soil by Moscow after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. But in the years that followed, Ukraine made the decision to completely denuclearize.
In exchange, the U. S., the U. K. and Russia would guarantee Ukraine's security in a 1994 agreement known as the Budapest Memorandum."
But they do have lots of field data for us in the next generation war of robots and drones, available for the right price...

It was part of the British Empire that was (and is) revolting. C:
British subjects started it, because there wasn't a United States until after the revolution started.
The US did declare war against the British in 1812, but they weren't invaded until after that.
LOL, the two aren't comparable.
Pick a better example, sunny.
Russia invaded. We chose to rule ourselves. The UK took no aggressive actions against us. Russia took aggressive action against Ukraine.
Technically yes America did start the war with the united kingdom over taxes.
Yeah dude, we said "fuck your tea!" and dumped it in Boston harbor
Said A, but it's an interesting question. Did the South start the Civil War?
The US has openly provoked Ukraine against Russia. Ukraine is just a bait
Didn't America start a war with france to weaken Britain first though?
yes, they caused it.
Third option: Russia caused the war.
Maybe it will, in the nearby future.
The UK started the war
