Yeah, this is a really bad shoot. Once at gun point the suspect should have been ordered to face away from the officers and than down, fully prone, arms all the way in front. From this position officers advance, oone covering while the other affects the arrest.

Don't know if the cop was dirty but it was certainly bad policing. What's really shocking is how the bodycam footage was sealed and not allowed to be used as evidence in the officer's trial. What is the point in body cam footage if they can do this. Body cams should be on 100% of the time, cops should never be allowed to turn them off on duty and bodycam footage should be the defacto evident in any trial involving the police, arresrs, police brutality and police shootings.

It was age restricted when I tried to post it here but on YouTube you can witness the guy get executed by the police. The army treats terrorist prisoners better then the Mesa Police department treats citizens.

I never supported instantly defunding the cops. But I do support having a plan to switch from having an army of cops to having almost every regular citizen (who passes some short tests & gets basic training) being deputized... so then maybe 50% of citizens are part-time cops able to respond to any incident near them. And the special "I'm a cop" thing goes away when everybody's relative/spouse is a "cop"

Of course going from a society where millions of people live like sheep & don't want responsibilities to one where you have to actually get off your azz and do stuff for the greater good isn't going to work for a lot of people.

Definitely need to weed out the bad cops asap tho and there's probably no way to do that without pain because the bad cops won't go quietly when they realize there's a mass firing/arrest plan for them.

@Juxtapose Yes, what I think is most likely to happen is society divides into those who are takers & those who have either built up stuff they want to protect or just don't believe in looting from innocent people. There will be walled cities/communities and outside of those it will look like the worst part of current 2nd world nations. Same thing predicted in a lot of sci-fi stories actually.
