It's not a registry. It's simple record keeping which is what the government does. It's not different than the government keeping track of countries that change names. For example if an immigrant is from "Germany", what does that mean? What period in history does it mean? Does it mean East Germany, West Germany, Germany with various states as members? What about Czechoslovakia? The government tracks people from the former Czechoslovakia, along with the new countries after it split up. How does it resolve that?

If someone has a birth certificate that shows they are born male or female, then later their info shows the opposite sex, there's going to be a conflict. Same then when people change names. There needs to be some record of it.

Jezebel is a biased source, and the article shows that. Maybe it is concerning, but without knowing both sides of the story, it’s impossible to say for sure. It does matter, though, whether a person’s driver’s license accurately identifies them since it’s used as the primary identification document.

Furthermore, you’re a political hack who’s shown no concern about civil liberties violations by the federal government, so it’s not as if you’re a civil libertarian.

I don't know, but I certainly don't accept something written on Jezebel at face value (only someone who wants to be deliberately obtuse and biased would). You'd also have to believe a lot of other stupid leftist propaganda in order to assume that. It's not clear what's actually happening, but I think you'd have to agree it's a potential security issue if someone's gender isn't accurately reflected on their primary identification document.

What's the other side of the issue? Do we actually know what happened? You've jumped to conclusions because of your ideology, something you do quite often. It would be naive to accept your conclusions here.

Well one, I’m sure that happens a lot as trans women have some medical issues of men. But this registry is trying scare an already petrified community which is pretty fckin shallow.

Besides, why would John q citizen need to know a persons medical history instead of just knowing their name?
