Is it justifiable to punch someone who stole a laptop from you?

A woman I know, mom of 6 (mixed family) sold stolen goods from her best friend, who is always in and out of jail.

I accidentally left my laptop in her friend's car, he said he'd return it then blocked me, and I then learned he gave it to her to pawn I ran into her and approached her and she said to leave her alone and that the police would laugh at me I got pissed and hit her

Think I would just kill them instead but each to their own. My laptop was £1000 something i would not be able to buy again while been poor like I am. I use it all the time so to take that away would be taking part of my life away, not just a item.

Hell I would be less bothered if it was my Xbox and as a kid who's played on Xbox ever since his dad handed him a controller that means a lot.

I also learned she gets that felon to steal from people that she sells to make a living. With 5 kids 6-16 there's lots of mouths to feed. I can't imagine how those kids must be influenced with a professional thief as a mother

Hitting her means you've committed assault and battery. Check with the local pawnshops and go find your laptop. It should be easy to prove it's yours. Pawnshops can't accept stolen goods, at least not legally, and they are required to take ID from the people they sell to.

Unfortunately I already have and it is gone. She makes a living selling her best friend, the mans stolen stuff.

I lent the man who stole from me 50$ once and said he didn't have to pay me back. Then he went and stabbed me in the back along with that woman... she is a so called super mom of 5 kids

well yeah, she stole your laptop. Maybe you would want to be careful since the law still exists (as in that would probably be assault) but otherwise, she already committed a crime against you.

Personally, I probably would hit whoever stole anything or pawned of mine. But by law I couldn't. I understand where you are coming from though.

No, I took a swing hardly anything. It's not the theft itself (which she does with her brother in law best friend) but the fact that she laughed at me when I approached her.

I did not catch her personally but a family member sent me a screenshot sent from the man who stole it, saying he was pawning my computer out to.

That friend of hers is also responsible for causing a woman's death with his wreckless driving. He got 3.5 years due to having supposed brain damage. The same Guy also had a criminal record 6 pages long and has been in and out of jail since 12 years old (now 35!) I don't think that kind of person should be excused.

No I felt terrible. That is not who I am. however I was not just angry but downright hurt by what her best friend Dorian and she herself did. Dorian said I'd get the laptop back, that it was left at his best friends house, then blocked me on social media and phone.

It sucks when you did something nice for someone and they kick you in the teeth. That said the man had always been in trouble with the law, so I should have watched my stuff around him.
