I love how all the Trump reporters have now resorted to saying well there's nothing in the tax returns that is of any value anyway which sort of begs the question of if that's true then why is Trump been objecting to it so vigorously for a couple of years now

Do they even have the authority to do that? It's highly questionable. Why do they even care? It's pure politics. I seriously don't understand liberal's and Democrat's obsession with Trump.

We have an entire branch of government whose job it is to deal with taxes. THEY have all the records and have had them since the start. Why does Congress need to get involved? It's the job of the IRS, not Congress. This is just more of the ongoing witch hunt and obsession that some people have. These people who are so hung up on Trump have a mental illness. That's a questionable overreach of authority. Tax returns are supposed to be private and only subject to review by the IRS. Congress has no legal authority to make them public.

So CBS writes about this. The headline is Trump pays 0 taxes in 2020. After you read it it says Trump suffered losses doe to covid so he did not pay any taxes. Then they went on to say he paid over a million dollars in 2018 and 2019. Why not lead with the years he paid millions? Because the media is really the PR organization for the democrats.

tax returns should be private unless they want to release them, it's noone elses business. For presidents... they should release them so people understand whom else controls/influences that person. true of other representatives. But maybe to much making it a law.

I don't care about Trump's taxes. I never have and I never will. That goes doubly so for anyone else who runs for public office. This tradition of presidential candidates releasing their tax returns started with Romney's father to prove he was still an American citizen. I care that Congress thinks they have the authority to violate the 4th Amendment to the US Constitution. And anyone else who thinks that they do. Harry Reid tried a similar stunt in 2012 with Romney; it didn't work then and it shouldn't work now.

It's always been voluntary, even if it has become expected, and Trump promised to release the documents you're upset they're releasing. Why?

Of course they do. Trump's spent years in court trying to avoid handing over what he promised to make public years before that. He lost his case in the courts. Now the panel can read them into the record, which makes them public.

The returns were obtained by legal means. The important word in the 4th amendment is "unreasonable".
