Why do shot guns look like it could be sawed off to look like a pistol grip?

Yes I own a shot gun it was my first gun, There is 1 thing I love more then my shot gun and that’s my dogs (replacement for dog would of course be a girl I’m dating but I’m single so 🤷‍♂️) and love to keep her looking like Margot Robbie with pink and black eye liner (kinda like wolf of Wall Street ) But I’ve always wonder thing. Is there a history behind it or purpose or history and purpose which we no longer utilize today

I take it you’re talking about sawing off the stock here? That can absolutely be done, leaving just the hand grip. You can remove the stock entirely and put a proper pistol grip on it. It makes the weapon more concealable and easier to wield in confined settings, like for home defense. To be legal, the overall length of the weapon cannot be less than 26” though.

most of this is true and that similar to what i'm talking about. the gun in the picture is a sawed off but it looks like it was meant to be, vs what im talking about where you the full wooden stock and of course sawing it off would make it into a pistol grip but more like the old style double barrel one thinks of. (also modifying your gun like that is a federal crime so i'm not gonna do that)

I have a Remington pump action. It probably not be such a good idea to saw the barrel off it.

NP and yea not the best idea but you see what I mean by the pistol grip part you see all you need to do is saw ord the square part of the stock and simply make in into a pistol grip

I have used this and keep the stock up agaonst my shoulder for stability. Shooting this like a pistol would be too erratic.
