It was always going to be McCarthy. He's absolute rubbish as a "leader" and shouldn't even be in the house let alone be the speaker, but it was obvious the opposition was always just demanding certain concessions from him and pretending to be hardliners to look good for their own districts.

It would be funny to see him take on a responsibility he actually has to be present for. Can’t cut out and hit the golf course on a whim, although you know he would try. Can’t declare his own work hours and demand to be left alone whenever he wants. It would be a different world for Trump. One he’s not used to, for sure.
Nothing would get done, but that hasn’t been a government priority for a long time.
If it can’t be functional, may as well be entertaining.
