These are the same people that believe:
Taking guns away from law abiding citizens will stop gun crimes.
Eliminating bail will prevent criminals from committing more crimes.
Never stopping immigrants at our border will show how compassionate Americans are.
Giving illegal aliens free housing, free education, preferential treatment at hospitals, all contribute to a healthy society, while forcing their own citizens to pay for education, housing, and health care.
EVERY idea the left comes up with is rife with stupidity. Then they wonder WHY people are leaving that state in droves?
Any good fortune teller can operate without a permit. They already know in advance when a city official will stop by asking for the proof of permit.
Yes, that’s a protection to their citizens. Much like carnivals.
You aren't serious, are you?
100%
Carnivals also get permits
You have to be joking. No one is this dumb to support such nonsense.
I am not joking. This is the law
Nah you're just trolling. No one actually thinks there should be permits for fortune tellers.
I support lots of businesses that entertain us. Like carnivals and sports.
I’m being honest.
Why shouldn’t entertainers be required to obtain permits?
Explain to me the difference between a fraudulent and a non-fraudulent fortune teller. Hard Mode: It must be coherent and logical.
Non-fraudulent is an entertainer who follows the law and charges fees for their services. Fraudulent are people who exploit others and make false claims in order to make $
Oh, so a fraudulent fortune teller is one who takes money from clients and isn't able to tell the client their future?
I answered your question. No where did I mention the clients future
Are you seeking to understand my answer or did you just want to argue?
You said a fraudulent fortune teller is one who makes false claims and charges people money. I'm just making sure that's the definition you're using.
Yep. But we haven’t agreed yet on the definition of a fortune teller.
According to you it's not someone who makes false claims and charges people money
Can we both agree that a fortune teller is an entertainer who doesn’t know the future?
But then wouldn't that make them someone who makes false claims and charges people money?
Nope.
What is a fortune teller?
So a fortune teller can predict the future?
I asked you a question. What is a fortune teller?
someone who makes false claims and charges people money
So an entertainer.
And what is a 'fraudulent' fortune teller?
Oh I told you.
Someone who makes false claims and charges people money?
You can read my answer above, can’t you?
I guess you are the result of 12+ years of indoctrination in government schools.
I’m just curious why you don’t like entertainment. Obv no one can tell the future however those who pay for the services of a fortune teller feel better after the experience.
You have yet to give me the difference between a licensed and unlicensed fortune teller.
Read above. A licensed fortune teller follows the law.
What is the law designed to do?
Law - the system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties.
And what is the purpose of this law? I didn't ask for the definition of a law.
The specific law you linked to? Must be to ensure the entertainment business is regulated and could be subject to penalties if they exploit citizens.
I appreciate your commitment to being the stupidest person I've interacted with today.
It’s nice to feel appreciated. Thank you sir
Well, a "Carny" has physical rides and games of skill that one wants to ensure are safe and/or not "rigged". Big difference.
The law tries to ensure citizens are safe also. That’s why I used the word exploited. A fraudulent entertainer way trick their client into giving them lots of $ to have a better “future”. That’s not safe
@BarryLiverstone Some of us would define ALL "fortune tellers" as such people, to be entertainers, but not to be taken seriously. And short of obvious child protection provisions for the "Adult Entertainers", we do not as a rule regulate entertainers.
Lord knows we don't want fraudulent fortune telling
It’s like ministers. Most are honest in their job to lead their congregation in learning about God. But some are corrupt and will exploit adults for $.
Most entertainers (like fortune tellers) are just doing their job. But some are corrupt and out to financially and emotionally hurt others.
And you think a permit prevents the latter?
@BarryLiverstone Well, that's actual *fraud* if the donations are solicited for the actual ministry or charity work, and then misappropriated. And no, paying a person a reasonable salary or wages for his or her ministry or charity job is not fraud, but above and beyond that reasonable salary, it is.
Again, how do you regulate something as vague as parlor tricks for entertainment?
Nope. But it helps. Because then the business would be subject to audits and regulations.
A fraudulent entertainer can hide in the darkness and directly interact with their victims without any knowledge of the police and law enforcement.
Don’t know. I’m a software engineer. So I haven’t been trained in regulating entertainment. But I suspect part of that regulation is in the law and as such if customers feel they have been exploited they can sue the business
I'm actually starting to feel bad for how dumb you are.
Sir I would appreciate it if you would stop insulting me. I haven’t insulted you and I’ve answered honestly your questions in a respectful manner
You haven't been able to explain the difference between fraudulent and non-fraudulent fortune telling, so I'm asking again why you're so entrenched in believing a license prevents fraud.
@BarryLiverstone "Nope. But it helps. Because then the business would be subject to audits and regulations." Uh, YEP, non profits and ministries ARE subject to audits and regulations. I work as a tax accountant, and charities and ministries and other non-profits *are* subject to lots of regulations here, among them the filing of the annual IRS form 990! Many have payrolled staffs and have all the regulations that go along with that.
Arguments for what constitutes legal compensation are also voluminous. Do realize that many charities have budgets in the millions of dollars and they have CEOs and managers of that money who are paid similar to and often more than CEOs of sizeable for profit corporations.
Yep I understand that.
The asker asked me :”And you think a permit prevents the latter?”
I said nope
As a tax accountant you can support my opinion that entertainers should have permits and be regulated. Just as non profits are regulated.
No one supports your opinion that fraudulent people should be taxed to obtain a permit so that they don't defraud people.
Fortune tellers are not fraudulent. Do you also believe that magicians are fraudulent?
So fortune tellers can tell the future?
No one can. I already stated that. But they can entertain.
You just stated they were non fraudulent. A fortune teller who can not predict the future is fraudulent.
Ahh, I see our conflict. I meant criminally fraudulent as the definition indicates
Fraudulent : obtained, done by, or involving deception, especially criminal deception.
"the fraudulent copying of American software"
Entertainers are not criminals, they are law abiding citizens.
Ty for your time sir. Have a nice weekend
