It is California. The state I live in came in number 4 behind New York and New Jersey. All liberal states too., No surprise there.

These kind of numbers must always be looked at relative to other states and then checked over how many per 100k population.

Cali has a big population therefore it isn’t a surprise for such big numbers leaving it.

Also people been coming and going for as far back as I can remember and this isn’t really an anomaly in such an economy.
Many move to Cali for jobs, more often than not they only moved for the job and never had the intention to call Cali home. Once they quit that job they move on.

Some find that when they have enough money from the job in Cali that they can retire if they leave the state because retirement cost is very expensive in Cali.

In today’s economy and world more and more jobs you no longer need to be in Cali in order to do it, no surprises many have escaped the high cost of living and the nightmare of bureaucracies.

I wouldn’t read too much into this stats.

Weird a lot of people leave this state but a lot of people also move here as well. It would be nice if more people left cause then It wouldn't take me a hour and 15 minutes to get home lol

There is a reason that those people left. The policies of the governor, The astronomically high taxes, the incredible homeless problem.. the last time i was in San Fransisco there was shit, and used needles in the streets, and the city was giving needles and other drug related people to the homeless people. Nah i'd never live there.
