Racism is bad, but racist jokes are funny, agree or disagree?

I recall a comedian once saying " Racist jokes are only good if they're funny, and they're only funny if they're true". That said, when someone tells a joke about their OWN race, they don't get called racist, do they? The best racist jokes have an element of truth to them, it seems.

Meh. I mean, you can make comedy from any topic but I find the best comedy is always about punching upwards rather than kicking down on those below you.

So nobody finds it weird. That we find something bad, unless we mask it as a joke.

Here's an idea. Since we think racists are bad. How bout making joking mocking them, instead of jokes supporting them.

If it’s an actual joke then it could be funny but if it’s just a racist remark then it’s not

The reason we laugh at racial jokes is because we are able to observe the irony or absurdity of the circumstances provided in the joke.
