Is anybody else here really mad Germany won’t give Ukraine Leopard tanks? Are any German people really pissed off at the cowardice of their leaders?

You know, Germany is suppossed to be one of the regional powers of Europe.

If anybody’s suppossed to be showing strength and leadership it’s them.

If they’re going to continue feeling guilt for war crimes they committed 80 years ago then they might as well do everything they can to stand against it.

But they’ve been consistently dragging their feet and undermining the alliance this entire time.

Even much smaller neighboring countries neighboring Russia like Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have shown more courage than them.

The entire Alliance wants Ukraine to have Leopard tanks and Germany is the only country standing in their way.

They have the power to enact real change given their influential position.

So its time for them to stop being hypocrites by reaping from the benefits of all the military protection that comes with Nato yet actively standing in their way, and for years having been pursuing closer economic ties with Russia.

But besides that point, why is it that one of the most powerful countries in Europe has consistently been showing the most weakness in the entire alliance?

Germany has something like 2-3 hundred tanks and like most of Germany's military equipment they are in a poor state.

I would point out that Canada has 80 Leopard tanks, Austria has 114, Chile has 132, Denmark has 40, Finland has 100, Greece has 132, Indonesia has 130, Holland has 440, Norway has 52, Poland has 142, Portugal has 37, Qatar has 30, Singapore has 96, Spain has 337, Sweden has 130, Sweden has 380, Turkey has 384. Why no pressure on these countries to give Leopard tanks some of whom have more than Germany. Australia too is replacing its 59 Leopards with M1 Abrahams.

The uk has 386 challenger tanks yet only give Ukraine 14 tanks considering its planning to downsize its tank force and concentrate on sea power.

All together the US aka the arsenal of democracy has 8000 M1 Abraham tanks with over 3000 thousand of them in storage. The US Marines are getting rid of their 400 Abrahams tanks. So why isn't the US giving Ukraine Tanks.

How about other M1 Abrahams tank operators like Egypt with 1300 tanks, Iraq 321, Kuwait 218, Poland 250, Saudi Arabia 371, Morocco 222,

The French have 400 Leclerc tank tanks.

South Korea have maybe 2000 k1 &k2 tanks.

The US also has 262 older M60 tanks that are probably still better than most Russian tanks and many other countries still operate them. Its like the US military still has massive amounts of them still in storage. A lot of other countries still operate them and the old British cheiftan.

The French have 400 Leclerc tank tanks.

South Korea have maybe 2000 k1 &k2 tanks.

So you really should be less angry at Germany and more angry at everyone else espicially America.

Sorry Spain has 380, Sweden has 130. Might be difficult to maintain but they are likely in better shape than Germany's Leopards and with 3000 Abrahams in storage I'm sure they can spare a few, I mean if Egypt can operate 1300 of them and the US Marines are getting rid of 400 tanks. Maybe the US should start purchasing Leopards from Turkey, Holland, Australia etc.
In 1973 operation nickel airlifted during the Yom kipper war was conducted by the US Airforce where within a month 200 M60 tanks along within other Armoured vechiles.
Anyway its likely all a move to get Russia to the peace table. NATO is basically warning Russia to get out of Ukraine or we will supply the Ukrainians with the requested numbers of modern NATO tanks. That's all available leopards, challengers and huge numbers of the available M1 Abrahams. Russian armour is weak, its from the 70s and lacks modern equipment. Point is there was no debate during operation Nickel.

Point is all this talk about Ukraine getting modern tanks is basically NATO warning Russia to back down or Ukraine will get Tanks. Russian tanks are no match for NATO tanks and I'm not just talking about the armour, I'm talking about the main cannon, the sensors and fire control systems etc which means NATO tanks will spot Russian tanks before the Russian tanks spot them.

Germany will like to participate in a more pasive way and humanitary way.

The "protection of NATO" argument doesn't really work when almost all members including Germany only have about half of the standing forces they're supposed to as part of NATO, and they already have sent a lot of their older hardware that wasn't being used anyway. The threat to the Europeans right now is Russia itself - all of them recognize that sending equipment to Ukraine risks escalation, so they have to maintain a larger than current force at the ready to respond.
