When you hear someone bang on your front door and it’s the police what do you do?

First gather up all the drugs then flush them. Make sure all the bodies are tucked safely in the cooler, throw a blanket over the barrell of acid being used to dispose of said evidence. What am I missing? Why what would you do? Not really first if they have a warrant because you are doing something wrong they are probably kicking the door in before you can answer it or hide any evidence. Since Im a law abiding citizen I would probably ask to see some identification before opening the door and if they can't Identify themselves Im retreating to bedroom to arm myself and take up a defensive position and calling 911 on speaker. If they do Identify themselves I'm opening the door and calmly finding out what's going on.

WE have two big dogs. They're barking and I look out and see two badges, okey. Open the door step out and close the door behind me, "sorry about the dogs, how can I help you?"

This is what does not happen, they do not enter the house, car, garage, etc without a warrant. If they want to ask me any questions about a crime, I ask to speak to my attorney first. I will not lie, and be as helpful as possible but always understand that they are police first.

I answer the door and tell them I have nothing to say. Any attorney worth his salt will tell you to NEVER talk to the police, even if you're innocent. What you tell them can only be used AGAINST you in court, if an officer is called to testify to what you said in your defense it's considered hearsay.

So you never talk to them and never let them through the door... It never helps you.

Well I'd probably go to the door and ask them what the problem was. But in my experience what they did was burst in the door and into my room with guns pointed, I had nothing but underwear on. It was one of the worst experiences... Dunno if u want to know why they had a warrant to burst in lol

That is scary! The same thing happened to a friend of mine last year. It was a traffic stop with shots fired and the suspect took off on foot. It was extra scary for my friend because he's a D. A, so he's made some enemies. The residents were actually notified by phone with a recorded message. Hope everything works out.

Never do that. Or open the door, step outside, and close it. Never allow a police officer into your home unless you summoned them, or they have a warrant. The ACLU has web pages on what to do if the police come to your door.
