Because the term "woman" seems to have been hijacked to mean anything between "something that looks like a woman" to "dipshit that thinks it's a woman".

The only thing to separate, is that a legit woman can give birth. Even a dumbass with a stapled dick, but thinks it's now "a man," is still a birthing person.

I will never refer to any woman as a birthing unit and in all honesty my heart would be broken forever if my son referred to me as his birthing unit and not his mom. The term birthing unit is sterile and generic and implies your job is done once the kid is pushed out but being a mom is so much more than that.
