What do you think about “canceled” celebrities getting back on track?

There’s a term i’ve used a fair bit, “job fear”. In a capitalism, we are what we do for money. We say we’re not when attempting to float affirmations, but we’re lying to ourselves and others when we do. That’s why “canceling” celebrities seems so effective. Let the formerly privileged worry about finding work, paying their bills, providing for their families… let them experience job fear. So when it doesn’t stick, how do you feel and what do you think? Should they be destitute, eventually homeless and starve to death? Or should they be permitted to get back on track? Do you support them? Will you buy tickets to their shows, or their newer works?

People, for the most part, deserve second chances.

But, the real issue I think is that we cancel to much for the wrong reasons. Or we apply today's morality/today's social mores/today's fads to things that people did literally a lifetime ago. We don't make a distinction between the Harvey Weinsteins and Jeffrey Epsteins of the world and the guy who made a dumb comment 20 years ago.

So, yes, give people an opportunity to get back on track.

@Guardian45 ... not a specific number. I don't believe in indefinite. One is probably too few. After one, I think it depends on what someone does and any ancillary circumstances. Case by case basis.

Murder is pretty close up there but I should probably stop short of hard and fast/zero.

The phenomenon of cancel culture is relatively new. It is only practiced by liberals and it is a shame that the liberals control Hollywood. Kid Rock said that we would be amazed at some of the people in show biz that are conservatives but he would never rat them out

The whole ring reminds me of McCarthy in the 1950s with blacklisting only Mccarthy did it to fight commies. The liberals ARE commies.

The question isn’t about whether or not cancellation is appropriate. It’s about whether or not cancelled celebrities should be given a meaningful path forward. Celebrities ARE being cancelled, right or wrong. Do you accept their finding a way back from that?
