How would you fare on a survival expedition?

I was watching a show called "Alone", where 10 men are left alone (apart from one another) with some gear to set up camp and survive in the uninhabited part of British Vancouver. No one lives there except for bears, wolves, and cougars. They're about 10 miles apart, and each has a camera to record what's happening to them and how they are making out in the wild. They need to set up shelter, fire, a source for water, and last, food. One of them just had a slug for dinner (he boiled it in some water and then cut it up) and kelp and seaweed the next morning. Someone found some periwinkles because he was near a beach. I think he was one of the lucky ones to find that place. Some have encountered bears and wolves at night. So, tough situations for these men--not to mention the mental anguish of not having anyone around to talk to--so they have to survive that as well.

I have no survival skills whatsoever like this, so this is educational and informative.
