I’ve always wanted to do the Nomadic life. Just take my van and travel some place for a month or so… find a job work a month then find somewhere else. Open road, find a girl that’s down with that and you could have a hell of great time. Wake up with the sun, enjoy the simple thing, etc… does that sound good or does that sound like torture?
I'm sure I could survive it fine. But it would get old real fast. It actually would've been way easier in the 1950s. Where you could basically roll into town and find some job as a laborer that'll pay enough for food and rent right away.
You don’t think that with that, you could find a simple job. Work save up money for the next move and go to another place and live? I think it would be a cheaper way to live as long as you keep you van maintained
Maybe. Back in the days of yore. You could just go to some mill, farm, refinery or what have you. Probably find a job and get paid in cash for a day, week or however long you hang around. Which would be enough to stay in some crummy little apartment or hotel. Depending on how long you stay in town. Plus eat meals at whatever diner is around and get some drinks at a bar.
Now all those places want references, social security, credit checks and such. Then pay you a bi weekly paycheck. So, you basically have to find where the day laborers hang out now and hope you get chosen for a job in the morning.
It's doable. But definitely not as easy to just go out and find work.
If you want to try it. Try it during planting or harvesting season. There'll be different seasons for different crops. Then hit up farm country in an area where those crops are grown. Note that you'll only want to do this with crops which still need a lot of human labor.

I think it would be like living in a tiny house. People at first think it is really cool, bu a month or two later it's up for sale. If I was going to do it I would need a certain amount of room.

Last year I did it for six months, had my SUV and a small RV trailer, would setup somewhere with internet and work remote for a couple of weeks. My small trailer, had everything needed to live, fridge, stove, bathroom, bed, and a table setup for my work laptop and stuff.
When not working, I sure as hell didn't spend extra time in that small trailer, I would go out and explore the local area... go hiking or other fun things.
Once the area was explored, I'd move on to another location on a weekend.
Was even planning on doing it this year, but met a great guy and we are together now, he can't do remote so when I asked him if he'd be okay with me being gone for six months, he for some odd reason said "No he would not be." so I said I'd come home every month for a week before going out for another month, he didn't like that either.

I think you would have a lot more fun if you just worked first and saved up money to finance the adventure. Trying to live off of odd jobs here and there sounds romantic, but I imagine you would end up mugged, broke, van stolen or broke down and living in a tent city somewhere with the drug addicts.

How are you gonna shower and go to the bathroom how you gonna date a woman like that everybody’s gonna disrespect you. You can only get by with that if you’re camping for a while. A van is not safe at all you could run into some psycho at any given time

Yeah, always thought about doing that. I have taken off on less permanent trips like that. I might take a year off and do something like that in the future.

I don't know whether I'd like the nomadic lifestyle. I do know that I enjoy RVing a lot.
