Despite the post-modern age being so advanced, what hasn't really changed over history?

what if there was Atlantis and other ancient civilizations that existed tens to hundreds of thousands of years ago? they could've advanced in ways that we never really bothered to, instead of advancing with the combustion engine and transistor. only things i can think of are probably furniture and books.

We SHOULD also be WAY more advanced in things like, what we use to fly, by now!! We've HAD anti-gravity since at least the `40's and have the ability to get to the moon in 45:00 with that tech so, why are we still igniting explosive fuel to get us from one point to another? From what I'm told, we could've taken E.. T. home back in the `50's and, all the shit you've seen on Star Trek, we've either been there, done that 70 years ago or just figured it wasn't worth it to continue using it.

yeah i think you're right about that. people have improved tires, axles, and other components, but the wheel itself hasn't changed much since the ancient times. except maybe the materials used but the structure is still the same.
