Historically?
All of these characters are make-believe. None of these characters are "real". They have done nothing historically. Get mad about the "race" swapping of real people who actually did real things in real history.
This is just the same race-baiting cowardly turd posting for the 10,000th time in this forum.
I never said I supported or opposed it. I was just curious on opinions because they were talking about this in a voice chat room
I am neutral on it
Please stop with being disingenuous. There are movies based on real history where the races of the characters were swapped out. And you didn't mention one single film. Every example you list is some "White" cartoon character being swapped for someone who is "Black".

Jason Thomas of Columbus, Ohio, helped rescue Port Authority police officers John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno on 9/11. In Oliver Stone's movie, "World Trade Center," a white actor was cast to portray Thomas.

It’s dumb because it’s not original, try swapping a black character with a white one and see what happens
But we don’t have any black characters that were historically black to begin with so what else we supposed to do
How about Black Adam? Switch to White Adam and see how many complaints there would be , or the Jeffersons being white instead of black, even though Jefferson was a white name, since it was one of our presidents

The debate surrounding race swapping in popular culture is a complex and contentious issue.
On one hand, it could be argued that race swapping white characters for black characters is an important step towards increasing diversity and representation in media. By giving actors of colour the opportunity to play roles that were historically reserved for white actors, it sends a message that people of all races and ethnicities can be represented and valued in mainstream media.
Furthermore, it could be argued that race swapping is a form of creative expression that allows for fresh interpretations of classic characters and stories. This can provide new insights and perspectives on well-known narratives, and can challenge audiences to reconsider their assumptions about race and identity.
On the other hand, it could also be argued that race swapping can be seen as an unnecessary and forced attempt at political correctness. Critics may argue that changing the race of established characters for the sake of diversity can be seen as pandering or inauthentic, and can undermine the original intent of the story or character.
Also, some people may view race swapping as a form of cultural appropriation, in which black culture is being co-opted by white creators and audiences. This can be particularly problematic if the black characters are portrayed in a stereotypical or tokenistic way, rather than as fully realised and complex individuals.
In my opinion it makes black people look bad and it angers white people to hate black people even more. In my opinion, it is done deliberately. What, you are telling me, we cannot create our own characters? our own cartoons? and our own super-heroes that both black people and white people can relate to and like? Of course we can, because it has been done before and with GREAT success. They are deliberately stealing and transforming white iconic characters into another race to anger both races.
They think they're doing black people a favor, but this actually looks bad on black people, because it makes them look jealous, insecure and incompetent of creating their own iconic characters, and even reinforces the concept of White Supremacy in a way.
Notice how it's only black people stealing White characters. Funny how blacks always complain about White people stealing their resources and appropriating their culture, yet now they're doing the exact same thing.
And this is actually nothing new. Black people in Africa have been depicting Jesus and his possy as blacks for centuries. They can't get over the fact that they have no iconic characters of their own, so they're stealing ours.
Its just annoying that this always gets taken out on a certain race of people or a certain political party rather than the writers or the few “fans” who asked for it. Idgaf about these FICTIONAL (not historical) character swaps whether it be someone white into a poc or a poc into white. I’m just tired of these race baiting questions that GAG allows weekly. I’m just glad I can see who continues to make rudeass remarks since they’re so bothered by it
It's lazy at best, and done to intentionally piss people off and complain about "racism" as a shield against inevitable failure at the ratings/box office at worst.
There's plenty of room and demand for original characters and stories, but it seems Hollywood broadly lacks the competency or vision to make it happen.
I would say racial representation is about mixing and not displaying. If you mix the races together or include the races together, you have diversity. If you display one race over or against another, it just leads to conflict and competition. There are also beautiful aspects of black cultures that can narrate dark characters. The lion king is one example of a traditionally black cultural piece, performed by black actors, that the world has cherished and held in high esteem.
I'm black and even I don't like that nonsense. The only white characters that might work well being swapped for black would be James Bond or Superman for me. Other than that I really do think it's unnecessary. And by doing it, it seems like Hollywood doesn't want to be creative by coming with all new iconic black characters and movies that would stand out on their own. Instead they just want to do re-hashes with race swaps. Ridiculous.
I don't see aproblem with it, when we've historically casted white character for roles in Egyptian movies. I don't like Michael B Jordan for Superman though. Perhaps it's because Cavill played it so well, I prefer Cavill in that role, but ultimately I don't see a problem with reverse whitewashing.
they should create new characters rather than convert others, but it's hollywood.
I no longer pay attention and neither should any kids.
You really have to be careful because you can see an agenda in the image they spin, including making "white people" look dumb and cruel and "AA" people infallible.
It doesn't seem to working out for your people. No one watches it so the propaganda doesn't reach anyone, and as a corporate strategy it's economic suicide. People have freedom of speech in America. So if you want to make bad shows and movies and blow your wad on dumb shit that makes you look like a fucking loser, by all means do it. No one cares how you lose your fortune.
You're aware its fictional characters, right?
They could be fucking painted blue for all that it matters. The main thing is about the production and acting quality.
That you have Black and Asian actors coming in doing acting cheaper than White and Jewish actors isn't an issue. They are still not paying writers enough to make new shit, is what should bother you.
I think it's pretty stupid! Okay, so we have a black gay Superman! Big deal!! What has this solved? NOTHING!! It's as pointless as getting rid of Uncle Ben, Aunt Jemima and the Indian girl on the butter!! Nobody says anything about Chef Boyarde, Mr. Clean, Cap'n Crunch, the Ty-d-bol man, etc..
See how most white men are cucks.
Our society is simply erasing them from every positive role in our society and portraying them as racists, morons and weak men.
Yet most white men would fight to death to defend the same "Western civilization" that does it to them.
Let's talk about battered wife syndrome and codependency...
I agree, but
western civilization is being destroyed by those who wish to see white people gone. People who fight to preserve western civilization don't support the people trying to destroy western civilization and this ''woke'' cultural liberalism. I don't support those that currently control the west and want to destroy it. It's up to real men to bring the west back to it's former greatness.
It's really stupid. Rather than come up with original ideas, they keep recycling stuff but change it in slight variations. Here we got some guy something about white men being cucks when it has nothing to do with being cuckolded and more to do with creatives being unoriginal and resorting to distorting original characters to being completely different. Velma is a self insert of the creator, Mindy.
I am more WTF! with randomly injecting black characters into historical epochs that were unlikely. e. g blacking vikings. A black viking would have become pretty sick from vit D deficiences fairly quickly.
I think it’s cool. I mean we’ve had it the other way around with people like Jesus. I prefer to watch movies with black characters from the start but I think the race swapping is still exciting.
Some Lebanese people could be mistaken for a southern European, Jesus being shown as a European isn't that crazy of a stretch as race swapping a white person to black or Asian.
I don't have a problem with white to black specifically, but I do have a problem with race swapping in general. Or at least why it's being done today. It's a cheap, substance-less virtue signal. And arguably incredibly more offensive to use such a cheap tactic rather than to actually take time to make a compelling, worth-while black (or any other race) character from scratch.
I think it's kind of stupid to take a character that already exists and change their race. when you can take a show like Scooby-Doo and add a new character.
People who are fine with it never think about if they turned Luke Cage or Black Panther white it's just wrong.
Superman, the little mermaid and Shaggy aren't historical figures. Do you think anyone even remotely cares except right wingers? Not this race bait again 🙄
They were historically white.
As far as I'm aware, they're fictional characters, not real people or actual historical figures
Fictional characters that have always been white.
Really, I'd bet if they change Black Panther to white all the left wingers would be crying and being sissies
Well the characters may be fictional but the people who made them aren't and by changing their designs you may be disrespecting the artists and writer design
Stupid, racist, divisive, and unnecessary. If you are not happy with the original characters then create your own show.
No big deal if the race is not relevant to the story but you should also be allowed to replace a non white person with a white person for the same reason.
I am mostly against it, I prefer to not watch woke shows, white characters should stay white.
Henry Cavill is the best Superman ever! Everyone should submit to him.
I don't care. Their skin color often has nothing to do with their characters capabilities.
i think it's idiotic forced diversity, forced tolerance and a bullshit leftist sjw agenda that is actually modern racism.
What? Shaggy is black now? Well, then I guess you need to have him getting arrested. To make the show accurate.
(White people don't get arrested for weed.)
To me it shows that the elite think black people are so dumb and unoriginal that they can not come up with their own stories.
It’s an attempt to make entertainment more inclusive. I’m fine with it.
They should race swap Chun li from street fighter into a white girl cause she looks like one in her earlier designs.
Fictional characters that are not fixed to a specific location: do not care.
I never understood the anger over this. But then again, I don’t care about skin color.
Cause you're a moron that's why.
Not understanding the anger over this.
And race being more than just skin color does matter.
We should have no whitewashing or blackwashing for that is rewriting art
It doesn't bother me tbh.
I don't care. Its fictional BS anyways.
Those people have their nose inside their brains
Why does race matter? Who cares.
shaggy looks silly (in a good way) either way 😑
It is absurd.
I am not sure..
Why is it necessary?
