Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has lost her race in re-election to remain Mayor, good news or bad news?

Lori Lightfoot was the Mayor of Chicago for years & not to mention she had the highest murder rates in the black communities held for years.

She denied federal resources & aide from the white house and other government entities, fired tons of law enforcement officers during covid over the vaccine when crime was at it's highest.

She even caused the Chicago Bears a huge money maker for the city to move and re-locate to another city because the crime in Chicago was so bad & she refused to allow them to move their stadium to a nicer part of the city and etc.

If you ask me I think it's time we allow someone new to help & battle crime and clean up that city and stop the murder of children & really just stop the genocide taking place there and allow resources to come in from the federal government to clean that city up.

Their should be no reason why a city has over 700 to 1000 homicides for years and counting. So in my personal opinion I see this as good news. What do you think?

That depends heavily on whether the alternatives in the runoff are actually better. Chicago has consistently had awful, corrupt leadership for about a hundred years now, and I find it hard to believe that a single election is going to change that as much as is needed.

Vallas is considered relatively not awful by the Republicans, but he also endorsed Lightfoot last go around. He's treated like a law and order candidate (which isn't saying much compared to Lori), but his entire background consists of working with public schools and failed political campaigns, and his accomplishments are only vaguely credited by the fact check fraudsters who lie about anything inconvenient. To his credit, he seems serious, and it seems like either coincidentally or deliberately, the Democratic political machine has sidelined or sabotaged him repeatedly in favor of more well-known but openly corrupt candidates. I'm inclined to consider him either the lesser of two bad candidates, or more of a wild card that would at least do something different, for better or worse.

Johnson on the other hand is an unapologetic woke leftist garbage candidate. He supported Elizabeth Warren in the last democratic primary, which tells you everything you need to know: he's just going to be the same type of nutty self-enriching fake activist leadership Chicago has suffered through for years and only gotten worse for, just in a new package. Presumably, most of the people who seriously supported Lori Lightfoot will throw in with Johnson.

I was totally shocked at this when I heard it this morning. I thought there was some kind of mistake. I thought she would easily cruise to another term. every singl day.

Maybe it shows that maybe the country is not completely lost. Maybe people are tired of the failed policies of the democrats and are tired of all the crime , murders and carjackings that go on in democrat run cities

Maybe people are fed up with sky high prices for everything and shortages of everyday household goods.

Maybe people are sick of the hypocrisy and the lies from democrats from cost to coast.

Maybe people are figuring out that the state run media has been lying and manipulating them for the last 20 years.

Illinois is a one-party state. Now, which party that IS changes once you move out of the northeastern six counties (officially, it's a coincidence, but I still think it's a weird Irish thing); but mindless Republicans are no better than mindless Democrats.

I'm no fan of Lightfoot, and am glad to see her gone, but the key question is who she'll be replaced with; the idea of "anyone but [X]" is how we got Biden back in the White House. And looking it up...

Well, she blamed sexism and racism; natch. But apparently this was just a runoff election; it looks like it'll come down to a race between two guys I've never heard of. One of them is black; I wonder if Lightfoot knows that.

Likely good. It's all democrat, so education won't change, discipline won't change, they think the same about social issues. Thus, changes are limited. Look at other cities do the same that are equally a mess, Baltimore, NYC, St Louis, Memphis... it's difficult to manage humans that are poorly trained.

They want to hire more cops... where are they going to get them? Who is going to signup for that job when they can make a bad decision and lose their life.

I applaud her for refusing federal funds... and wasting our money on their bad policies. She got that right.

My heart goes out to the people who have sufferred, but it's their responsibility and they live with the consequences of their decisions. Lets hope they do better.
