Carlson told (and showed) the truth and Democrats are pissed. It harms their narrative. They want to be the ones cherry picking which videos to use as political propaganda.

If buffalo boy should be in prison then so should the capital police who stepped aside for him and even acted as tour guides instead of asking him to leave or arresting him for trespassing.

The faux narrative of hyperbole, horror and outrage about the "deadly insurrection" was always laughable. Deadly? 🤣

Democrats looked for every reason, real or imagined, to demonize Trump and his supporters from the day after the 2016 election results were announced, even before he even took office.

It's funny how Democrats clutched their pearls over the Jan 6th, 2021 incident but uttered not one word of condemnation about the violent riots, arson, and attacks on police on inauguration day 2017 outside the capital, all over Washington DC and in cities across the country. In fact, those riots were barely mentioned.
But how were they not an effort to overthrow the election via insurrection?

No. Tucker Carlson lies for a living.

"Fox's lawyers [argued] that Carlson's statements "are not reasonably understood as being factual." U. S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil agreed, ruling that "Given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer arrives with an appropriate amount of skepticism about the statements he makes.""

It's crazy that the judge ignored the fact that reasonable people would not be watching Tucker Carlson's show.

Apart from the messenger, how can any video showing someone not committing a crime (even if they weren't committing one by simply being in the building) negate a video of them committing a crime?

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, as you can see, my client didn't kill anyone in the days before he is seen killing the victim in the video so you must acquit! It's nuts!

The truth is already out. This is just such a bullshit attempt to obscure it that even Republican legislators are calling him out. People wouldn't have been running for their lives or barricading doors if everything was peaceful.

The truth is what we all saw with our own eyes more than two years ago. Since then, there's just been more and more evidence that it was planned and the intent was to illegally keep Trump in the presidency.

You might want to talk to the feds about that violence because they're the ones responsible for it and they're the ones who will bring in the most radical people to poison the well of the protest.

Isn’t that the guy who admitted his personal hatred for liberals has clouded his judgement? Why would suddenly we believe that his clouded judgement has cleared up? Lawyers for his company said no reasonable person would take him seriously.
They admit that they lie to you to keep you watching, and yet, so many still see these guys, Tucker Carlson, as purveyors of truth.
    It boggles the mind.

Tucker Carlson keeps lying to his viewers and the American people through his feeble attempts at framing January 6th as "peaceful." All you have to do is watch the full unedited video.

@goaded what does that have to do with the media lying? Every time someone puts a bumper sticker with his name on it on their car it's an attempt to keep Trump as the president.

Of course, there were people there who supported him it's also very clear there were people there who didn't support him.

It wasn't an attempt to re-elect Trump, nobody has a problem with that. It was a violent attempt to ignore the result of the election and keep him as president anyway. Am I wrong?

@goaded yes, it was a protest formed by a culmination of people who didn't feel like their concerns about the legitimacy of the election were adequately answered and then a bunch of people who were paid to insert themselves in the crowd and start riots.

There is plenty of footage of single people trying to incite violence from the crowd responding in disagreement. There's footage of guards in full gear not doing anything to deter people from entering the building. They were walking in. Wouldn't be surprised at all if a bunch of the people the government went after had no idea they were doing anything wrong.

The only violent thing that took place were oddly out of place people traveling in groups together seeming methodically trashing the place and instigating others to join in. Most of whom didn't.

Most of the footage is people just walking around like it's a museum.

You have absolutely no evidence of "a bunch of people who were paid to insert themselves in the crowd and start riots.", you have one scapegoat, Ray Epps, and the awkward fact that nobody would have been there if Trump hadn't been lying about the election.

Why would Biden supporters or antifa want that? Why would "the feds" want a riot to stop Biden being president?

@goaded this is a bunch of silly talk. What do you mean "stop Biden" obviously throwing people in to start a riot that police did nothing to stop would only make Trump look bad, start an investigation and build public confidence in Biden. Like what are you talking about.

@goaded I'm saying that because the police did nothing to stop it, almost nobody who was violent on video got charged, the majority of the video is people just standing around, Trump never actually told anyone to break into any buildings, the people who have come forth and admitted there were professional rioters paid by antifa to be there, the government was successful in discrediting Trump as well as his supporters and helping Biden. What happened was a staged insurrection at best.

Uh, the police were vastly outnumbered and fought like hell to stop people coming in. Hundreds have been charged with serious offences. The majority of the video TUCKER CARLSON showed you was "people just standing around" because he's a liar, you have no clue about the other 41,999 hours. Nobody has "come forth and admitted there were professional rioters paid by antifa to be there" because that never happened. Finally, the January 6th committee uncovered how the whole attempt to illegally keep Trump in power was orchestrated from before the election even happened.

As to "Trump never actually told anyone to break into any buildings", we'll have to wait and see what contacts there were between Trump and his closest advisors and the people who have been convicted of seditious conspiracy. He sure as hell knowingly sent an armed mob fired up with his lies about the election to the Capitol.

The only conspiracy is by the January 6th committee and how they use that conspiracy as the Crux of their argument against Trump. You can even casually tell they're disingenuous because they say it's worse than 9/11.

@goaded I don't watch Tucker Carlson his name and face annoy me to a point where I can't watch him impartially. Although if he's showing video of how much nothing actually took place at least it sounds like he's minimally doing his job to report events as they actually happened.

I was actually watching a lot of the video live off Twitter reddit and snapchat. You know, actual social media outlets where people can directly post their stuff.

Did the place get trashed? Yea some people went in there and tossed everything up. But that's far from an insurrection. I would go so far as to call it a pretty sheltered idea of one.

At the end of the day it's not my job to do your research for you. A good hour of watching videos, reading reports, seeing interviews from people who were actually involved, reading some of the literature from court proceedings and generally doing your own news gathering would probably help you out a lot.

Many of us are tired of the news cherry picking scenes from 40k hours + (or whatever) of video to support a claim that anyone who has done even minimal research can see is grotesquely misleading. So we do our own research. Honestly, don't even watch the news anymore and I usually know about stuff before my friends and can usually answer questions about details which people thought weren't answered yet or were unclear.

If you want to be like that too which everyone who wants to take part in a better world should. I would suggest that the next time you hear about something in the news, just start off on YouTube and try to do some Google searches about the claims made in the video.

When someone says that something was the worst (blank) since (blank) maybe scratch your head and say hmmm well how bad is this thing that's happening now and how bad was the thing they're comparing it to.

Why would they say that? Oh turns out this lady on Twitter who claims to work for some company says their company does business with one of the entities involved in the news story, maybe I should search them on market watch (a stock trading news source)
There is so much more to know than what CNN tells you and I know its probably scary for most people to question the box god that is their tv but it's less work than it seems. If you have an android or an iPhone you can easily have news stories from all different sources pushed to your phone.

I read them periodically through the day. Everything from Elon musk to advancements in technology to local news about schools to things happening in our world economy.

When you educate yourself on a broad range of current events and topics you begin to see how they're connected and how the world really works. It's not secretive it's mostly out in the open.

I'm not saying this out of hate or negativity, I'm saying this because you seem like someone who maybe cares about these things past just being on one "side" or the other. You seem like someone with a capacity to understand the message I'm trying to convey. And also these conversations are just exhausting for me.

You could make a whole college level course about what were talking about here

"[Vandalism is] far from an insurrection."
That's only if you ignore everything that had been going on since before the 2020 election to try to steal the presidency from Biden.

It started with the lies about election integrity, the attempt to claim victory before all the votes were counted, the baseless lawsuits, the forged "alternate slates" of electors intended as a fig leaf to cover Pence simply throwing out states' certified results (the man who came up with the idea himself said it was illegal), and on and on until the final desperate attempt to stop the count by sheer violence (and possibly even kidnapping the VP) on Jan 6th.

Research doesn't mean believing random people on the internet. I've just been told that George Floyd's mother called out BLM, where a few seconds actual research shows she died years before he did.

I do research, and it involves reputable sources and people admitting things that are against their self-interest. You accuse me of just watching CNN (I don't), but this whole question is about whether Tucker Carlson is somehow telling the truth when he's obviously also cherry-picking video (it's impossible not to), and when his own lawyers have said in court that reasonable people would not believe what Tucker says on his show is true.

@goaded you'd have to be really closed minded to watch this and say "tucker Carlson is lying here" which admidditly is a sentence I never thought would come out of me.

How is showing a video that depicts 90% of what was going on lying? Especially when all the other news outlets are playing the same clips over and over again for months. I mean these clips should really make some people say "oh that's nothing at all like what I've been seeing for months on TV" you know, maybe there's more to the situation than it seems.

Was it a stupid video in every conceivable way? Kinda there's way better videos he could have used like the pleth of people begging the swatted up men to radio in for back up and report the few guys who broke in. Or the videos of random guys trying g to convince the crowd to storm the building and the crowd chanting that he was a fed and saying that's not what they came for.

What he's trying to do is be comedic but it comes across wrong because he's a smug idiot who couldn't be right even if he tried to talk about the sky being blue.

The people there were so harmless it's embarrassing. Like cops who ticket elderly people for forgetting their parking pass on the mirror.

No please, if you want to have a conversation that's one thing but some of these responses are just ridiculous. This shit is why the founding fathers never wanted a two party system.

Tucker Carlson has been defended in court on the basis that people shouldn't believe what he's saying is true, and that reasonable people (which make up 0% of his audience) would not believe him. It is reasonable, therefore, to assume he's lying.

"How is showing a video that depicts 90% of what was going on lying?"
For a start, you only have his word for it that that's the case, and also he's excluding the part that was violent. It's like showing a gas station CCTV for a day and ignoring the armed robbery that happened.

The police didn't arrest Angeli on the spot. So what do you think that proves? All that proves is that the police were wildly outnumbered. He was there to do what he was convicted of, and he refused to follow the directions of the police.

"random guys"? Name two. You have multiple videos of one scapegoat and no actual evidence that he had anything to do with the authorities.

@goaded why would he show the because again he was making an incredibly cringy attempt at comedy. He knows his viewers saw the "violent" parts of the protest. It's all that's been on TV and social media for months. He was trying to show that there's a whole other side to the story than what other people are reporting which like him or hate him, his job is to report the news. If all the viewers are primed up on what is effectively propaganda, I don't think this one clip or what I've been seeing from him when I go to the deli is wrong.

And isn't that the guy who got like 3 years for yelling into a megaphone? Like when the guy who was actively trying to get everyone to storm the building; they can't find that guy, but this kid who was just chanting shit out gets his life ruined.

And by the way, they knew these people were coming, that's why the guys in riot gear were already there. To say that he wasn't arrested on the spot because there weren't enough police there is careless. Especially to the best I can remember pretty much all the arrests were done after the fact using security camera footage

Are you saying Tucker Carlson was making a joke? I mean, he is a joke, with his "just asking questions" schtick and claiming his lies are undeniable truth.

Angeli was convicted of felony charges of obstructing an official proceeding, he went into the chamber and refused to leave when told to by the police. The scapegoat guy, Ray Epps (who turned himself in, they didn't have to "find" him), didn't enter the building or even afaik pass the barricades. Tell me, do you think what he was saying the night before was incitement, or free speech?

You know the attack on the Capitol was pre-planned, right? It wasn't just a protest gone crazy, it contained people with plans and equipment to take the Capitol by force.

There's a difference between being prepared for trouble and expecting it. There's all sorts of gear available in police cars for use in an emergency.

If pretty much the entire GOP elite didn't disagree vehemently with what Tucker Carlson showed, it'd be a much different story. The fact that they all say that it was misleading and not true to what happened illustrates that it's not an accurate depiction of what happened on January 6. If you were watching the news on an actual day, you're getting a pretty unfiltered depiction of what happened. They couldn't doctor the videos they were showing because it was happening live.
The key difference between January 6 and the other riots and such are where they took place. January 6 took place at the NATIONAL CAPITOL that's an attempt to influence the country violently on a federal level. That's different than riots in other cities or areas where it will just influence a state or city's actions.

I think it was a lot more truthful than the way the democrats portrayed it. Was there violence? Yes. But it was very limited. A few broken windows and a smashed in door. In fact that Capitol police opened doors for protestors and even the so called QAnon Shaman was flanked by Capitol police and it seemed like they were giving him a tour of the Capitol. President Trump told protestors to march "peacefully nd patriotically" this speech was never aired by the fake news.

Tucker is showing the parts that the Demoncrats were afraid to show. The peaceful tourists. Instead of the violent few idiots that fit their narrative!
He even showed the ā€œmurderedā€ capitol policemen walking around after he was supposedly killed! Imagine that! Imagine just how much money and time was wasted to falsely convict certain people to make Trump look bad. When they could have been doing something for the good of the American people!

He reveals some, a lot, of truth that balances the extreme of the other side.

    The truth is somewhere between.

If I take the protest/partial riot I went to as a kid, and the police activites, it's the same thing... this just happened at the capitol.

If you give me a choice between choosing Jan 6 "nutjobs" or antifa nutjobs, it's an easy choice which I'd rather live around... even though they are both extreme.

@goaded I think at this point we all understand most of the violence was happening on the west side of the building and that was perpetrated by feds.

I don't think you understand anything. There wouldn't have been a crowd there if it wasn't for Trump calling them there. Then what would "the feds" have done? And why would they have wanted to keep Trump in office? What you're claiming makes less than no sense.

No. He shows lulls in between bouts of insane violence.

I could upload footage of quiet streets during BLM riots. Lol.

Most of the violence was near the west entrance but in other entrances it was perfectly peaceful with cops guiding people around and then later arresting them!

The only person who died during this "insane violence" was a protestor šŸ˜‚

Beaten cops, one died the next day and another killed himself over what he saw Jan 6. But feel good fighting on their side.

Yeah I heard about that cop, it was completely unrelated to the protesters.

Some mentally unstable moron killing themselves is irrelevant.

Why was this all just given to Carlson? Make all 42000 hours or whatever available to the public. Let them see it for themselves.

You know it's nearly 5 years of video, right? Video of someone not committing a crime does not invalidate video of that person committing a crime. How could it?

I'm sure people have enough time to scrub through and share their findings online.

This footage is supposed to show that those individuals didn't commit a crime. Establishment politicians seemed pretty freaked out about this footage coming out. I can't imagine why they would unless the narrative they are trying to uphold would shatter if people saw it.

At this point if the state says something the opposite is likely true.

Everybody seems to be avoiding this simple question: How could video of someone not committing a crime invalidate video of that person committing a crime?

I expect they're "freaked out" for at least two reasons:
      1. It will show how the security services react to situations like Jan 6, allowing for better preparation for the next time
      2. because it's been passed to a proven liar at one single propaganda outlet that refers to Republicans winning elections as "we win"

@goaded if he really committed an actual crime then try him for it. But we noticed that these people are let in and then later the mainstream media acts like they all forced their way in and the cops didn't give them a little nice tour.

@goaded the way the Democrats and the mainstream media have been handling this is inexcusable and footage that would have exonerated several people has been withheld for years. This is unacceptable and makes me trust the far left all the less.

He did commit an actual crime, was charged and convicted for it. No amount of video of him skipping through a meadow picking wild flowers could ever change the fact that he was guilty.

You're not being honest and using the fallacy of the excluded middle when you pretend that if some people in the Capitol weren't being violent, the whole thing was peaceful. Peaceful means no violence, violent does not mean there weren't moments of peace.

Hundreds of people were recorded breaking dozens of laws and there has been enough evidence to convict someone who didn't even enter the building of seditious conspiracy (a very hard thing to prove in a court of law) for being part of planning and executing the attack.

@goaded none of the bad things like that would have happened if it wasn't for the feds. Trump asked for more security and encouraged the protesters to be peaceful by the way but he was denied by the Democrats.

I still think the committee is a fucking kangaroo court and Tucker Carlson blows this whole narrative out of the water. Almost everything said about January 6th by the Democrats has been a fucking lie and need I remind you they have hidden critical evidence that would have exonerated several people?

You can't "remind" me of something that never happened. Nobody hid "critical evidence that would have exonerated several people", that's just bullshit. Where are those mythical people's appeals based on this newly discovered "evidence"?

"none of the bad things like that would have happened if it wasn't for the feds"
Oh, come on, this is getting ridiculous. Elmer Stewart Rhodes and the Oath Keepers planned to attack the Capitol well before the day. He's been convicted of it.

Trump asked for troops to protect the "protesters", but there was nobody there to protect them from. He spoke one sentence mentioning "peacefully" to protect his ass because he knew it was an armed mob he was sending to the Capitol.

You really shouldn't believe everything Carlson tells you. No reasonable person would take what he says as fact, Fox News said so in court.

      The J6 Committee:

      - Lied about how Brian Sicknick died

      - Lied about Barry Loudermilk taking rioters on a reconnaissance mission

      - Lied about Josh Hawley running away

      - Lied about Ray Epps being a credible witness

You're projecting again. I never watch CNN and your list of supposed lies is ridiculous, especially compared to Carlson's (and therefore your) attempts to portray the events of Jan 6th as anything but a violent insurrection that we all saw happen in real time.

""It was a mistake, in my view, for Fox News to depict this in a way that's completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here at the Capitol thinks," McConnell told reporters.

Earlier Tuesday, [U. S. Capitol Police Chief Tom] Manger asked his statement be read at roll call meetings for rank-and-file and posted on all Capitol Police bulletin boards. In the memo, which was obtained by NPR, Manger listed out a series of falsehoods portrayed by Fox:

      * Carlson pushed "outrageous and false" allegations that officers acted as "tour guides." Manger refuted that characterization saying that officers who were severely outnumbered were using "de-escalation tactics to try to talk rioters into getting each other to leave the building."
      * The program "cherry-picked from the calmer moments" outside the violent attack to push a false narrative dismissing the violence of the siege.
      * The Fox News host claimed fallen officer Brian Sicknick's death had "nothing to do with his heroic actions on January 6." The department maintains, Manger wrote, "that had Officer Sicknick not fought valiantly for hours on the day he was violently assaulted, Officer Sicknick would not have died the next day."

"TV commentary will not record the truth for our history books," Manger said in closing. "The justice system will. The truth and justice are on our side.""

Also, like seeing video of people temporarily being peaceful doesn't mean they were peaceful the whole time, seeing other lawmakers also running away doesn't mean Hawley didn't.

You know, just saying things like that doesn't make it true, and while there's no evidence of a "deep state" working against Trump, there's tons of evidence that Fox News works with Trump and the Republican party lying to you.

@goaded there are two types of right wingers who don't like Trump.

      1. The ones who value class and view him as too boisterous and vulgar.

      2. Those in the deep state who recognize that Trump is an egomaniac that is in it for himself and is not going to be supportive of the deep state.
