Why do Liberals resemble Christian cultists so much?

Some people call Liberals "Cultural Marxists," but it's a mystery how they see a hint of Marxism in them. That's a whole other conversation anyway.

OTOH, Liberals (especially White Liberals) are almost the spitting image of Christian cultists like the Puritans and Quakers.

They share with them the same obsession with political correctness, the overzealous sense of "morality," the same appetite for self-flagellation (white guilt is a big example of that), among other things.

They basically have the same rotten "metaphysics" except for the fact that today's liberals are for the most part not religious, or follow "non-traditional" religions, and eexually liberated.

I mean I get what you’re saying—not saying I wholly agree—but when is a Christian denomination “cultists”? Does it have to do with number of followers? I mean to me Quakers are just Christian pacifists, but I’m not that familiar with them. What about Christian Scientists—is that a cult? I mean I think their ideas on medicine are pretty wacky... but a cult? And the Menonites or Hutterites or Amish... are they cults?

I’m not trying to be technical, and of course some would call all of Christianity a cult. It’s just an odd comparison in my opinion, comparing the Woke specifically to Christian cults like the Puritans. 🤷‍♂️

I think the comparison TO a cult is a very apt one though. One maxim of the Catholic and much of the Christian faith centers on “Original Sin.” One gains salvation by asking for forgiveness, following Christ etc. “BEING”a GOOD Christian.

And yet you are a sinner, born in sin. 🤷‍♂️

To the Woke the Original Sin is RACISM. And everyone is racist, and if you deny it that is further proof that you are, a racist. You need to “do the work.” And this is why you have White guilt ridden people falling down on bended knee, pleading their mea culpas for the crimes of their ancestors, and the crime they themselves perpetuate through their unconscious internalized White supremacy beliefs.

You are always guilty. You were born guilty, and you will always be guilty.

This is just ONE similarity between Wokery and cultish behavior. A religion requires 2 things: a belief in SOMETHING greater than oneself (both sacred and profane, ex. God/Devil...”Whiteness”/ Racial Justice) as well as a method of worship and contrition. You worship or you beg forgiveness.

And they all bend their knee and whine, and worship at the feet of their new god.

Conventional religions and cults have founding myths and ethical systems, but the difference between the two is that a cult is based on utopianism and socially deviant beliefs and practices.

All of thise Christian cults are based on nutty beliefs. Both Quakers and Puritans had an obsession with purism, they even had a cancel culture because they thought they should ostracize those ones who weren't "pure enough," their overzealousy towards language was very similar to what we know as political correctness. Mennonites are explicitly against self-defense, etc. Christian cults in general have an obsession with "the weak" (which can turn into victimhood culture, as being a victim gives one status in those communities).

I think the way Liberals see the world is very similar to the one those Christian cults which, for better or worse, built the US.

It's true that there is a huge Jewish component to Liberalism these days, but these are the ones who win with Liberalism. They are not losing their identity and opportunities because of Liberalism, so the social dynamics is very different between Jewish Liberals and White Liberals because one group will get all the advantages while the other will get all the blame, one will get all the opportunities while the other will be expected to fill their bellies with "values" and perceived privileges. And those values (I see) are very similar to Christian cults, in part because I think the New Left tried to recruit people from those communities, so the intellectuals of the New Left had to use a narrative to which those Christians could relate themselves.
