The number one reason why there are so many people who, at least outwardly, seem to be hard core liberals is that they have tremendous fear of not being popular, and the far left ideology is still the 'in' thing, and a lot of people are terrified of not being part of the trendy crowd, and being ostracized or 'canceled'.
