Reminds me of the time my dad- a Classified Ad manager at the time- had a discussion with a particular new hire. The lady he hired was a double amputee, confined to a wheelchair, and was driven to/from work each day by family members. She was the first to arrive, the last to leave, and was pulling a minimum of about 120%-130% the average pay level for an Ad Rep because she was a hard worker! She outsold everyone at her experience level. She caught my dad one day and said, "Thanks, Bob (not his real name) for taking a chance on me when no one else would." "I didn't think it was that much of a chance," he replied. "You spelled every word correctly on your application- which is rare- you're here in the morning before most of the Ad Reps WITH legs. The only qualifying question I had to ask was whether or not you had a way to get here- reliably- each day. If I had been hiring for the Roller Derby, you wouldn't have made the cut."

I met her only once - she was a very sweet, unassuming and friendly lady. Didn't have a "demand this or that" because "I deserve it" attitude at all. Kind of sad that some straight from the mind and heart honesty - such as this was- would be considered off limits in today's society!
