If you were homeless would you rather be in prison and at least eat well?

Prison may not be everyone's idea of a good time, but at least you get food and shelter and a bed to sleep in. If you were only in for 5 years, you could sober up and maybe learn something to get you a job when you get out. I just read about a man who pulled a bank robbery for $1.00 and then sat down and waited for the police so he could go to prison. Would you consider prison to get out of living on the streets?

Never. Worked there in medical. Food isn’t the best, you’re told what to do when to do it. Woke up throughout the night for count three times a night as well as three times during the day. It’s political so you have to run w your race otherwise you have no protection against others. Even w in your own group you may face some violence. Officers can be shady, so you have to deal w that as well as far as how you’re treated. Some dudes getting raped in the middle of the night. One dude nearly beat to death in the kitchen w pots and pans. I remember having many men come to medical, scared as shit, built, would intimidate someone on the street, but scared for their life having been beaten up, jumped. When you asked them what happens, their response, I fell out of my bed. You tell the truth you going to get hit harder, maybe worse. It’s not a good place. Plus a lot of people who go in there end up catching another bid, meaning more time because they had to side w their race in a fight or something criminal even if you just barely came in having nothing to do w it. Otherwise you might catch the wrong end of the stick from your own. Some dudes I seen almost every few months, maybe once a year. They knew the ins and outs of it so I guess they did ok. But no I wouldn’t go to prison for the sake of having a place to eat or sleep. It may suck on the street but unlike the streets, you can’t leave the confines of the prison walls, barb wire fences.

It might be a viable option.
The biggest thing is that you as a person would want to get help and make the changes necessary to change your life so you would not continually find yourself back in the same situation.
The prison system would also need to be able to provide the help and guidance in order to help you make those changes.
There have been cases where someone has been institutionalized for so long, they cannot make it on the outside, so they do something like you mentioned so they can go back in.

What you're saying happens all the time in the winter. The shelters fill up, and it's either commit a crime or freeze to death. One guy was denied entry into a shelter on a cold, and snowy night. So he threw a brick through the liquor store window, and drank as much as he could before the cops got there. Jail sucks, but prison where I live is like Club Med.

I worked in a prison work release. One Christmas the prisoners got so much food that they each got three plates. Ham, turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, string bean casserole, pies, cakes and ice cream.

The staff got a bowl of corn soup for Christmas.

I've never heard of anyone in prison being spoiled like that. Usually they get the minimum calories to survive. But that is still more than homeless get.

If you knew what I know, your blood would boil. Much of the food for the prison work release comes from a food bank. The food was meant for the poor and homeless.

I've seen prisoners eat an entire half gallon of ice cream by themselves. The ice cream came from the food bank.

I would tattle on that baloney. They are not in prison to live the Life of Riley. If I donated to a food bank and found that out the press would hear about it as well as social media.

Someone blue the whistle and the state had to stop robbing the local food bank. One time I remember them getting a $60 ham from the food bank during Christmas. I was so pissed off. That ham was donated by some store, and was meant to go to a poor family, and not killers.

Yes, homeless is extremely dangerous people don’t like homeless people. They beat the crap out of them. I heard on the news. It’s dangerous it’s not safe it’s not healthy your life could come to an end at any given time you deteriorate really quickly no showers no bathroom no food really , no roof over your head no protection probably never again Will you have a girlfriend when you’re homeless, homeless people turn to alcohol and drugs they take it to kill the Pain horrible, horrible life.

being homeless doesn't mean you can't eat well or at all.

i've watched the homeless in my town. they panhandle then drive away in cars to do sex drugs eat and shower in a motel. they split the cost between a group of them. it's still not a great life, but it's better than jail

That's why I don't donate to anything but well-established charities. I'm not going to donate to buy someone booze or drugs.

in my small town there's an open cabinet with food in it that people donate to for the needy. i donate there because it's actually used for it's purpose

That's a good plan Z if I ever get that low in life, I'm not joking cause it works out, if I'm ever desperate for money I know I'd most likely rely on dirty money and if it goes wrong, worst case they lock me up and I live in a prison for free, I'd just make sure the crimes aren't life threatening, maybe stealing atms or breaking into cash registers when stores are closed, petty crap that won't get me killed in any way.
