Is it just me or do Americans think the world revolves around them?

Whenever a lot of Americans post something on a global social media platform for everyone to see, they seem to have this idea that the entire world is supposed to know what goes on over there/is supposed to work how it works there. I've not met too many people like that from other nations. So stuck up/ignorant about the world.
NOTE: Exceptions exist.

No, it isn’t just you. As an American that is an expat abroad most Americans haven’t left the country or crossed the Atlantic for various reasons. The issue is that all entertainment and news there is very American focused and comes from America. Many Americans are convinced America is the center of the world or that there is no better place to live when this isn’t true.


There are lots of really nice countries around the world without the unique problems America has. In the Netherlands for example, healthcare is much cheaper, the crime rate is lower and shootings almost never happen. The transit is also good. I notice when some Americans travel here and talk to the locals they get uncomfortable at times because the people here aren’t afraid to highlight the serious problems America has that people refuse to acknowledge in the US lack of gun control, healthcare, rampant homelessness, why there isn’t any paid leave etc

America is about diversity of people and ideas. If you want a police state where people like me aren’t allowed to live then you can always move to North Korea or Russia.

I for one am quite happy being in a very progressive nation where society is safe, I get 30 days vacation paid by law, have good transit, are no no homeless people and fast and affordable healthcare. Life here is pretty good for having so many policies that are considered “woke” in America. Or perhaps it’s just that these policies were never woke in the first place and just a good way to run society?

Well I do see a lot of American media so I do get it. But I accept that seeing the media isn't the same as being there. The map is not the territory. I know a lot of people think the UK is under Sharia Law because of what they see in the media. It's not true, by the way.
