Republicans in North Carolina today repealed a requirement for permits when buying pistols, overriding a veto from the Democratic governor, Roy Cooper.
The move came two days after a shooter in neighbouring Tennessee carried a pistol and two automatic weapons into a Christian school in Nashville and killed three children and three adults before being killed by police.
According to the Associated Press, the North Carolina House “voted 71-46 to enact over Cooper’s objections [and] to eliminate the state’s long-standing pistol handgun purchase system, which requires in part for sheriffs to perform character evaluations of gun applicants. The Senate voted to override the veto on Tuesday.
“Cooper and Democrats warned the repeal would allow more dangerous people to obtain weapons through private sales, which do not require a background check, and limit law enforcement’s ability to prevent them from committing violent crimes.
“The enacted bill also would allow guns on some school properties where religious services are held.”
The AP also reports that three House Democrats failed to vote on the veto override, thereby enabling Republicans to meet the constitutional requirement.

Shooting have noting to do with woke considering most shooter are racist men who are most of the time physically unattractive. Wokeness have nothing to do with it and I hate wokeness (it's basically inventing problem where there's none but that's not the reasons why shooting happen).
And gun aren't the reasons either, in Asia there's no shooting but mass stabbing, in Japan some years ago a man who wore a Joker disguise stab lots of people in a train. He wasn't a trans man.
This was such a tragic event. All of them--all mass shootings are. However, those children and the 3 adults on the news really hit me hard. And all the GOP will say on their Twitter accounts is say their sorry and offer their condolences. Nothing about gun control. It's time we protest and push for Congress to reenforce it. I say ban all weapons that shouldn't be in the hands of people.

Neither, you seem to be the very woke block you're talking about. Forcefully pushing an agenda, wanting to identify with the least common denominator victim. Pretty sure everyone, you know, not actively shooting kids doesn't want to see them shot.
What is "tough gun control" in your opinion? You are aware that regardless of what your perfect world is, that there are more guns than there are people in the US currently, right?
I think you are equating woke to people being in the LGBT and all that. Being “woke” is a bit different. Webster dictionary defines it as being: “ aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).” I don’t think that that translates to anything that the trans person who shot that school as being woke. People are just stupid and do stupid things when they are angry. When you put a weapon in the hands of stupid angry people, they make dumb decisions that cost other people there lives. Usually a “woke” person fights against that. So they way you used woke technically isn’t correct. But mainstream media like to blame a lot of stuff on a lot of different groups to push an agenda. I think there is a level of “woke-ness” you have to have in order to understand the evils that are going on in this society, however, there is always two many extremes and going over either way is bad for the general populace. We as a society need to scale back a lot of things. Yes woke-ness can and should be one of them in order to actually figure out how to even co-exist anymore.

This has been a strange case altogether. Early news report simply reported that a woman had killed the children. Later, the news stated that she had been a student at the school years ago. A woman now and a girl then. Nothing was said about trans in the early reports. And since girl them and woman now, where is the trans. Now that that has been tossed in it just gets nuttier. And the guns don't kill people, the user does is just as nutty. How could she walk into a school and kill a bunch of kids armed with purse and a pen? The gun is the tool that allowed this to happen.

The actual statistics (off government websites) show that there are between 10 and 30 times as many people saved by guns in self defense than killed (and that includes suicide). The asault weapon ban in place for a few years 25 years ago showed no drop in gun crime AT ALL. The ONLY reason liberals want guns to be banned is because they know EXACTLY how much freedom that gives to someone, and they HATE that.
I don't think so we have plenty of laws I do think that we should have a more stringent background check something comprehensive instead of name rank and serial number and then somebody should actually you know read them before approving somebody purchasing a gun but we don't need more laws we just need to enforce what we have I had a pistol stolen years ago and the police caught the kid that did it and instead of arresting him like they would have me or you probably they set him in the lobby of the police station while they tried to decide what to do with him and big surprise he ran you know who's not taking it seriously.
So called "gun control" measures will never work. All they do is penalize law abiding citizens. Criminals and those clever enough having a mental imbalance can get a black market firearm if they want one and have the money to pay.
And don't say ban rifles like the AR-15. Out of the 20+million AR-15's in circulation, less than 1/100th of 1% is used by those mentally disturbed enough to do stupid things like school shootings.
My question is how did she even get into the school building in the first place with those firearms?
California has over 100 gun laws and still had back to back mass shootings, killing over nineteen people in January of this year. If people really want change, it's needed as an amendment to the constitution as that highlights the difficulty of using state law to balance safety and liberty.
It's not the guns fault. It's the person behind it who causes murder. We need more good people with guns instead of letting criminals take over everything.
