No you are not noticing a trend. Comic books were like this from the very start, you just did not read them. Comic books has always been about shacking things up which includes sexuality, ethnicity and literally everything else. It is part of the foundation of the whole industry and now you want to act surprised?
@exitseven Ahahaha! Sure they were. Its not like half the characters were homosexuals/bisexuals and had gender/race flipped at least once. Tell me you dont know about comics without telling me you dont know about comics.
@exitseven Why not?
@exitseven Yet he kept taking on young boy sidekicks. Just saying.
@Sasahara nobody cares about foreigner comics. We're only talking about DC and Marvel
@exitseven There are a million and one ways you can make a sidekick or even write a story without one. They made the choice to tag in a kid in spandex with flamboyant personality.
@Sasahara I am mostly speaking in regards to the American DC and Marvel comics since they are kind of a genre in its own and has a long history of being "woke". Mainly, the core figures behind the industry like Denny O’Neil or Dave Cockrum etc.. were all "woke" and regularly tackled political and social issues including climate change and even capitalism. I mean, Scooby-Doo for example is basically just an entire series bashing capitalism and religion with the villain basically always being an entitled white guy trying to get rich and all the mysticism always turns out to be fake.
As such, the comics are naturally filled with a diverse cast of characters and to mess with their core identities is just a fairly small jump from there, especially if you are trying to keep the same old story going for almost a century now. Some examples of this, in 1992 Miguel O’Hara was Spider-Man 2099 who is an Irish-Mexican. In 2009 I think we get the Red She-Hulk or whatever. There has been many Aquagirls ever since the first version appeared in 1959. In 1998 we get American Dream which is a female version of Captain America.
We have several female versions of pretty much every major super hero in fact. Sexuality however is a bit rarer since the editors and publishers were often much more conservative than the writers and artists so it was more often a case of certain people being "roommates" or whatever rather than outright saying that they had a same sex relationship which is why its usually coming out closer to now rather than back then such as when Velma in Scooby-Doo came out as gay recently.
@exitseven They were written by "degenerates" so I would not hold my breath dude.
@exitseven Yes he would. He definitely would. You apparently dont know Stan Lee very well do you? Out of curiosity, have you ever considered what the X-men were meant to be?
@exitseven Then why the heavy emphasis on the prosecution of mutants and their suffering at the hands of a hostile society?
@Soteris Stan Lee had the idea that there were a lot of kids out there that were misfits. Kids that were not athletic and kids that didn't have many friends. He created a group of young people who were different. Then he started the narrative that they were persecuted because they were different. It is no wonder that sales soared almost from the first issue.
@exitseven Sounds like a collection of every minority group in existence to me. Black people. Transsexuals. Gays. Anyone who is oppressed in society for just being who they are.
Dont know mate, sounds pretty woke to me.
@exitseven You would be surprised. Also, once again.. the comic book artists were extremely woke. Same with the people behind shows like Sesame street or Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
@exitseven Oh, they were super woke. Probably far more than currently even.
@exitseven And you dont think people in the military was woke? Especially those fighting the actual nazis?
@exitseven That says more about them than it does about Stan Lee I guess.
Batman will always be a rich white guy.

Superman was an alien who banged Lois Lane. She's not even the same species, he might as well fucked a goat
still totally gay
Yes, because Democrats will be excited by that.
