Why do we waste so much time fighting amongst ourselves when the real enemy, the political class, benefits from the distraction?
last federal elections...
80 million people voted one side
80 million people voted for the other side
80 million people didn't even bother to vote...
so, evidently... there's 160 million people still trying the same thing that never worked that well before
Congrats. You figured it out.
Because largely we aren't going to be on the same team, even if we purge the political and corporate tyrants. Unfortunately.
Whatever happened to the enemy of my enemy is my friend, even in the short term?
I'm not suggesting doing anything overt,. I'm just suggesting an attitude shift away from attacking fellow little people when it's the big people that rule over us that are the actual problem.
Do you think it's time for a national divorce?
Pretty much. If we divide like dumbass barbie keeps saying, that's going to cause a fuck ton of issues that can't be solved.
But short term we can do it, but after that, no. We are too tribalistic, we can't just leave each other alone. We have to pick at each others freedoms due to our own sensibilities. College culture, military or police culture, religion, LGBT issues, abortion, marriage, gun rights etc. There are too many natural wedge issues in the zero sum game of liberty and freedom for their to be any compromise these days. It sucks, but that's why I keep to myself and my own, and we leave everyone else alone as long as we are left alone.
Careful, you'll get accused of being a socialist with that attitude
I claim libertarian, and dont believe in taxes in the first place.

Moreover, there are no factions when it comes to funding public projects.
Either the money is getting used for public benefit, or its not.
Somebody decides what projects go ahead and what projects don't. That person belongs to a faction, and has to get re elected at some point. Surely you aren't that oblivious.
There are no actual political factions, they are all doing whatever the people who actually run the country tell them to.
It's a bit like tv professional wrestling. You don't pay attention to how everything is rigged as long as you continue to root for whatever actor convinces you to like them. But at the end of the day, they all get paid by the same manager, and were told to win (or lose), and to make it look convincing, in order to get said pay check.
Everytime any "faction" gets their way, it's always really the people at the top picking that choice.
Doesn't matter though, nothing can be done about it.
