really sick and messed up. When my church (Evangelical) had issues with a pastor cheating on his wife with someone from church, they found out, he was fired, they announced it. They then encouraged them to get help and mentored and it got much better, and he got his life back to a better place. That's how you handle it. You don't let someone continue to abuse people, assuming others know. That is stupidity.

It's possible for such things to go unnoticed like they have in college sports. It is not easy dealing with these issues/reports... whom do you trust? People can be ruined by false accusations. That said, it should be dealt with by process.

I don't know what other would accept the abuse.

It's everywhere as I noted. Anywhere you have adults and kids. Humans are corrupt. Church attracts sick people... it wants them. Sometimes, they fly under the radar.
That dude "BTK" murderer was in church and killed someone there.
However, there's people there with amazing hearts that give and give as well.
I would never turn my children blindly over to the care of another, anywhere... if I had them. It's stupidity. And always ensure those kids feel totally open saying anything to mom and dad.
The internet... is more dangerous and damaging these days, a direct pipeline to trash a childs head. We encountered this issue with our kid (step kid) was hurt over the internet and took some work to discover it and resolve it.
If you haven't figured out the human heart is corrupt, trust me, it is. J of Nazareth was very clear about this as is the Bible.
Thus the need to protect children, including at church and school, daycare, etc..
