During the last election when an anti tax, pro family candidate lost the govenors race and it was voted to allow illegal aliens to get free drivers licenses I realized that this state is beyond fixing and my only recourse is to sell my house while I can still get top dollar for it and move someplace more aligned with my values.

The problem with America is that it became an empire both abroad and internally. The elite who run it treat it as such, flooding the place with disparate people with no cultural or ideological commonality, while doing all they can through regulation and manipulation of the economy to break up any semblance of tight-knit community and stability. They deny real culture and attempt to suppress it. Instead, they attempt to give the nation an ideological foundation. This is the “America is an idea” concept. This keeps the people weak and dependent on either government or corporate power, and also requires the government to try to propagandize people into a national religion of sorts, which creates tension and conflict between those who embrace it and those who do not.
I think we all know there is zero prospect of partitioning the US anytime soon. US military doctrine forbids it and anyone who would seriously attempt it would join the January 6th protestors in the infamous DC prison. The real question is how to best handle the consequences of dedollarization and the subsequent loss of US hegemony. Many things that are impossible now, like a circulation or replacement of elites, will become likely in that case, probably in as little as ten years. How will the future USG, much weaker due to the end of the petrodollar system, hold together a highly divided, culturally diverse, and also greatly impoverished population? My thinking is that it must rein in or even break up large corporate power and allow a return to more local self-sufficiency, and foster the formation of culturally cohesive locales. This means restoring the right to free association, restoring federalism (getting the federal government out of business that used to be handled by the states), and ending civil rights regs that effectively forbid cultural cohesive towns and neighborhoods. The US would be diverse, but instead of trying to force people who would likely clash to work and live together, it could allow these diverse people to disintegrate into more cohesive locales and civic organizations. This would require the recognition that the US is not a nation in any meaningful way and should not try to enforce a civic religion, but is in reality a complex aggregate of people groups with fairly strong regional differences.

They are trying to use the justice type system of must have evidence first before you can search, like warrants and stuff, rather than simply searching to make sure it is all legit.
I have said for years that the US should, red and blue states, problem is people are migrating from blue states to red states and turning them purple because they don't like how their own states are being ran, but then the want the same bad policies to be put into place there.
I'm all for either more states rights, less federal power. That can solve almost all big issues, as it is far easy to fix things on a local smaller level than the federal level.

Personally I think it's a terrible idea. Like any relationship seeing a counselor, a non-partial one, like a judicial branch that would prosecute Biden and Hillary the same as Trump would be the way to go. I'd say a good example would be Texas energy grid, given any normal day of the year that's a fantastic idea, given an extended cold front and everyone is screwed.
The same would happen to red areas divorced from cities, and cities divorced from red areas, but to both in every area of logistics. Forcing both to be independent with finances, reducing the national debt ceiling, and taxes would be more ideal, but less realistic. A national divorce will likely be violent and involve siege warfare as well. What happens to the swing districts or islands in that scenario?
It’s a good conversation but it’s probably not going to happen. I think a lot of mainstream moderate republicans are waking up to reality that there is a deeper and systemic (yes, systemic) problem with the way things work in America right now. A national divorce would be an absolute disaster as it’s being described because of how much power the left has. I do think that the left has underestimated the will of the right just thinking if you offer a few government programs and some tax breaks that there will suddenly be a wave of people flocking to vote democrat. As it stands, it’s about 55-45 democrat. By this point, the left was probably expecting a 75-25 split and the 45% can cause huge problems for them going forward - especially owning their own firearms. The left IS after your firearms and this has been the battle for a long time. The left can keep winning elections and try to take away your firearms out of guilt (every responsible and trained gun owner is responsible for the acts of mentally I’ll shooters, don’t ya know) but their arguments are failing and, now, even MORE citizens own their own firearms
There is a bit of a quiet rebellion building and the left knows it. This is probably why you see the media freaking out over literally anything and everything anyone on the right does.
If you have to leave your state for a state where you can live freely, go do it. It is utter nonsense to stay in a state that doesn’t respect your values and your morals and your rights for the sake of “unity”.
It's a tempting thought, but I think it goes back to the old saying: United we stand, divided we fall. Because the big cities tend to be liberal and everywhere else conservative, it would be impossible to draw a line. Even if we could draw a line, the liberal side would invite in all of our enemies (like they're doing now at the southern border) and the enemy would be on our front lawn instead of being across the ocean. Also, with our smaller tax base, the conservative side wouldn't be able to afford the proper military to hold off the communists, socialists, globalists, and not to mention, the Mormans. :)

Counties have the abilities to join neighboring states. Just get the constituents of your county to join a different state. Take your electoral votes, tax payer money, GDP, land/resources next door to a competing state. If the commies keep running their state poorly, they will shrink to the size of Delaware or Rhode Island.

@Fuentes. They are giving them free everything. A bus load turned up in the little town next to mine. They snuck them in during the night. There is one hotel in the town and they took over the whole thing. They all went to the hospital and jammed up the emergency room and the already strain school system had to take an additional 50 students, none of which could speak English. They even got from sneakers and free iPads.

I worked on a political campaign last year. The first time I ever did that mostly carried a sign and waved to people. My guy lost and I am not a sore lover but the contrasts in candidates was shocking. My guy was an anti tax guy who stopped an increase in the gas tax when he was a state rep. He was against teaching CRT in the public schools and was a big proponent of first responders. The winner was a lesbian who is more concerned about pronouns and having transsexuals using whatever bathroom the feel like. It just does not get any weirder than thst.

You must be kidding. California is perhaps one of the bluest states in the nation and our central valley provides about 80% of the vegetables and other produce grown in the United States. No southern state comes even close to producing what our state produces. We also produce a lot of culture and art and other things that you probably don't value, but we do.
As far as manufacturing jobs go, yes you're correct. There are still people in the south that manufacture things that went out of date 30 years ago. On the other hand, silicon valley in California is responsible for essentially all of the technical advances that come out of the United States, both in software and hardware. You of all people as a computer expert should be aware of this.
You're correct, semiconductor manufacturing, as well as most technology beyond IC like I2C circuits in America will be found on the West coast. The materials that are 30 years out of date that you reference are far older than that in some cases, but are the power, and raw materials those same production lines rely on.

California is pretty far down on that list actually. The northeast holds solid like 1-10 there, mostly just because of our tax code and the clustering of wealth. It's a mystery to me how you could survive in NYC as middle class, wouldn't survival expenses to not be homeless alone come up to around 60k a year?
