If elected politicians of every stripe can do this, un-elected ones known as judges can too
Your going to have to deal with the reality of Washington D. C. People with power will be corrupted and influenced by people with reason and money to do so.
As such the more power you give them proportional to their accountability the less they will represent you rather than them. A Federal judge never being elected by anyone is the least accountable of all politicians.
We have via unwavering support for all their edicts from the other 2 branches and levels of goverment no matter how disconnected from the written law made them into oligarchs with near unlimited power.
We should expect them to be supremely corrupt, it is remarkable that soo many of them are such honor able men like Justice Thomas in refusing nearly all that power.
@oddbeme Everything comes down to this fact of power and lack of accountability. If you don't take that into account when you make any policy choice you will not get what you want.
